Looking for address module
«
on:
August 29, 2008, 10:50:31 AM »
Hi,
I'm looking for a module that does the following:
Through the backend we give input like first name, street and number, zip code, town, phone, fax, mail, WYSIWYG info, etc.
Each person receives a group, for example, doctor, pharmacy, dentist, trader, association, school, etc.
On the front end you can then show a list of all doctors with only their name, street or whatever you wish. On another page a list of the schools etc.
The user should be able to sort those names by clicking on the header.
If you are in that list, click on a name, you will see a new screen with details of the chosen name: so the WYSIWYG info.
Ultimately, this can also serve as a catalogussysteem or whatever. A list of items and by clicking you'll see more info.
This module does not exist here and is perhaps a combination of the module Members, Team, News? Also on
this link
you see something similar. This is a creation of
Grid8400
.
I am unfortunately not php programmer. Someone an idea? Has someone something?

Luc

and unfortunately my english is very poor...
You could add a wysiwyg editor to "members", and members also supports groups and aliases.
But members hasnt that much fields.
the sorting by users is a javascript thing, google for it. There are some scripts how to sort a table (or like that).

Hi,
Thanks for the reaction but I can't use both modules.
I install the modules Members and Team. Both very good modules but no option for me.

Hi,
I need the folowing data:
Group (dokter/school/dentist/....)
Name
Street and nummer
Zip and City
Phone
Fax
E-Mail
webaddress
Some WYSIWYG info
In the frontend, the user see the following:
***********
* DENTIST *
***********
NAME STREET CITY PHONE Whatever
====================== ================== ================= ============= ========
Van Pimperzele Pipo Pipostraat 12 8000 Brugge 0476/123.456 aaaaaa
Janssens Jan Dejanstraat 20 9000 Gent 1234/987.654 bbbbbb
Veronica Radiostraat 123 1200 AA Hilversum 555/564.12.11 cccccc
The data above is only from the group
Dentist
or
Schools
or whatever and can be sorted on name, street, etc.
Attention, it is possible to select the addresses in another page. I want a page "Dentist" and somewhere else on the site I want the addresses from all the schools.
When a user clicks on a name, let's choose "Veronica" in the above exemple, you'll see the folowing:
Name: Veronica
Street: Radiostraat 123
City: 1200 AA Hilversum
Phone: 555/564.12.11
etc....
Info: here comes the WYSIWYG info.
I hope I give the right info.
Thxalot,
Luc

Hi,
I really hope that someone can provide something. If necessary I write the names in the database itself. And work through a snippet for displaying the items.

I'm still working on an modul ... but could say def. when it will come into an beta.
Im sitting today at the "edit-user" form, maybe tomorrow the "view.php" go ready ...
As for the backend - a screen is attached, planed the same listing for the "groups" ...
Edit
Two questions: Are we in the need of PHP 4.4.x or can i use PHP 5.x?
Also - is it ok to make an istallation of a second-modul? In this case: "x_cForm"?

Hi,
My server works with PHP 5.x. Later, it's also easyer to move the module to WB 3.
And a second module is no problem!

@Stefek
yes - not so well writen like "quickform" but it makes some thinks easier to build.
The only thing that drives me ... ist the WYSIWYG-Editor as shown int the
attachment.
As for the backend-coding; a little sneak preview:
Code:
<?php
$form_attribs
= Array (
'name'
=>
"wb_addresses_form"
,
'class'
=>
"xForm"
,
'action'
=>
$_SERVER
[
'PHP_SELF'
]
);
$form
= new
c_form
(
$form_attribs
);
$form
->
addElement
( Array (
'type'
=>
'hidden'
,
'name'
=>
"id"
,
"value"
=>
$_REQUEST
[
'id'
]) );
$form
->
addElement
( Array (
'type'
=>
'hidden'
,
'name'
=>
"page_id"
,
"value"
=>
$_REQUEST
[
'page_id'
]) );
$form
->
addElement
( Array (
'type'
=>
'hidden'
,
'name'
=>
"section_id"
,
'value'
=>
$_REQUEST
[
'section_id'
]) );
$form
->
addElement
( Array (
'type'
=>
'hidden'
,
'name'
=>
"job"
,
'value'
=>
'save'
) );
?>
and so on ...

Hi,
The above picture shows that the module will be verry good!
But perhaps we should still provide some additional inputfields, for example, the web address, extra name, shoe size, number of girlfriends
, etc?

Just one litte input, as this module looks very promising: I could see this module being used internally by small companies for generating a contact database for their external staff or on their intranet website.
So a CSV-export would be very convenient for further use in excel or other databases, I think the export-function can be really basic, as selections can be made in a later step.

Hello
Just "sitting"/coding the frontendview/output ... as seen in the attachment.
So i came to some questions: i'm a little bit confuse about the "group" field;
as far as i understand you can also made a new page within new "users" within,
e.g. "Dentists", "Mechanics", "Soccer" ...
Also the details about a person: in the image you can see that i'm placed it under the
list itself instead of drawing a new page ... hm ... as for smal groups i think it's ok ...

Hello Aldus.
I think, if you provide the date at the bottom of the list, the only problem will be the lenght of the list.
If the list is too long, the user has to scroll up and down and up and down.
Maybe a HTML tooltip where a good solution.
You tip over the row and a HTML tooltip apears.
If this person is of someinterest you can click on the row and a new page appears.
Just an idea from the usability point of view.

There must be a possibility that a page is made with only the "dentists". Some menus further a page with "schools". But eventually they all come from the same database.
I think that this is a good solution? So a database with data on different pages can be visible.

*** OFF TOPIC ***
Hi Aldus,
In your screenshot is a question about the name Veronica. By coincidence this came to me but Veronica is the name of a radio station from Holland, our Northern neighbours. More can be read on Wikipedia in
English
,
Deutch
and
Nederlands
.
Sorry for this Off Topic!
And, also in the screenshots, Gent and Brugge are in Belgium (so BE 8000 and BE 9000) , not Holland. Hilversum is Holland.

@luckyluke
Thanks for the correction - at this point you can see how caotic/confuse i 'm
Ok - fyi - i've mangage it within two pages and a "backtolist" link in the top of the "detail-view".
I agree that a long list could be tricky to handle for the user, and if the "WYSIWYG"-section
comes up with tons of Details there is now "room" enough ...

This is promising to be a very nice module!
If you need a tooltip script.. I was looking for one some time ago and found this..
http://www.bosrup.com/web/overlib/
Extremely simple to use, works very well. Very customizable.
Include the script and call it like this.
Code:
<a href="javascript:void(0);" onmouseover="return overlib('This is an ordinary popup.');" onmouseout="return nd();">here</a>

There are table scripts wich sorts and filter a table through some javascript, maybe that could be a solution for long lists?
http://free-javascript.all-faqs.info/table.html
I did use datagrid once for showing parts of a huge database,
it is a class, setting some parameters and off you go
http://phpbuilder.blogspot.com/
Have fun,
John

Hello
Here is the first alpha of the "addresses"-modul, including overlib-tooltipps.
- You will have to install "x_cForm" as modul first.
- If you have install the "addresses"-modul you will have some "dummy-data" in the
MySqlTable "mod_address_user", and you can simple play a little bit around with them
by a) add a new page "addresses" and b) modify the "section_id" and "page_id" in the
dummytable for the new page/section via php_my_admin. Or simple add your own one.
As for the two modules i think i'll have to start two new threads later on this day here.
Both requires PHP 5 and WB 2.7.x!
