LDAP Error When Logging In

We have just installed Website baker with the multiple groups patch and the ldap integration. 
We also installed PHP version 5 with ldap (added ldap after the fact). 
When we try to login via ldap we receive this error:

Warning: ldap_search() [function.ldap-search]: Search: No such object in /var/www/joomla/account/login_ldap.php on line 32

Warning: ldap_first_entry(): supplied argument is not a valid ldap result resource in /var/www/joomla/account/login_ldap.php on line 34

We have tested our binddn user using another utility all all OU's pull up okay.  If we change that username in the config file then we receive a difference error so we are fairly sure that our ldap binddn is correct. 

Any thoughts?

PS: even though the folder name says "joomla" this is our baker installation folder.....
