Hello,

I have a problem with following system-components:

WebsiteBaker Version 2.7
Template: Dark Ritual 1.0
Newsreader 0.1
one XML-feed
on IE7 clients

I ran into problems with a news-page, that contains three newsfeeds.

Two rss-feeds work fine:
http://www.worldsbk.com/news?format=feed&type=rss
http://www.motogp.com/en/news/rss

But there is one xml-feed on that page, that ruins the layout:
http://www.motorradonline.de/rss_nachrichten.xml

The news of that feed work fine on Firefox, but they are displayed in several steps from left down to right leaving the regular template-page space.
Seems, like the page-format gets messed up in Internet Explorer 7.
That problem occurs only with that xml feed together with IE7.

Any ideas how to fix that format error?
The page is still under construction, so I have the chance to test things there:

I am not too experienced with PHP and CSS editing, so please keep things simple  undecided
Hope there is some code-snippet, that can be inserted somewhere ...

Time for another coffee,

Pete

Hi Pete,

very strange behavior of IE7 undecided
Just noticed, that you didn't have a doctype defined in your template, maybe a correct doctype is enough to get the IE7 on the line.
Just replace the <html> in your template with this:
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">

Give it a try ...

Hello Bernd,
thanks for your hint. I did following:

Opened "dark_ritual/info.php" with "Template Edit" in the admin section.

found that
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN"
<html>

and replaced it with your code
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">

But it seems to have no effect  sad

Seems, like there is a problem with that XML format of the feed and the Newsreader module.
Maybe some strange XML characters, that need to be uncommented in the module to make that stuff IEl compatibel.
Just a idea!

EDIT

I let the feedvalidator do some checks on the feed and he found some errors:

http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.motorradonline.de%2Frss_nachrichten.xml

Does that part part cause some trouble?
Code:
# <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
# <rss version="2.0"
# xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"
# >

Here is the first item:

After that, it continues with the next "<item>" and so on.

Hope someone can help me.

Maybe I try to read that feed with a external PHP-feedreader-page and put it in WB with the inlinewrapper module.
But that would be the dirty way  wink

Perhaps someone can give me another hint ...

Ups - typo in the forum:

I naturally changed the "index.php"  wink
Like I mentioned before: The change in the index.php showed no effect.

EDIT (again)

When I disable the Logos and description, everything works fine.
You can see it here:
http://bikerfreaks.de/wb/pages/news.php

So it must have to do with the logos/description part of the newsreader mudule.
