Image Editing in WB media modul
«

Hello
I have searched for an hack to edit images within the media modul, but i found nothing.
So i do a little hack for myself and developed an improved media modul (only with gd2 support! / tested with WB 2.6.7).
With this improvements you are able to resize images within the upload and add an thumb of this image to the media directory. Existing images can be resized or cropped.
Additional improvement:
Selecting a directory in the select boxes, changes the directory shown in the filebrowser area
and vice versa
I hope some other will find it helpful
If you have any ideas or comments, please let me know
Greetings, Michael

Nice idea, but didn´t work on a short test width wb 2.7-RC1. Olli did a similar mod in 2006. Have you seen that post?
It´s here:
http://www.websitebaker2.org/forum/index.php/topic,2356.msg15598.html#msg15598
This improvement worked nice in all 2.6.x-versions and maybe in 2.7 too.
Another enhancement that worked, was the option to upload zip-archives and unpack them automatically. This was very helpful and time-saving for uploading hole image galeries.
The threat is here:
http://www.websitebaker2.org/forum/index.php/topic,5325.0.html
I hope, the snippets may help you on further development. The integration of both scripts is simple.

Hey php_knecht,
I really like the idea, but I didn't get it to work either. (Tried it on 2.6.7) Especially on FireFox, I got some more errors, which had to do with the layout of the page. (It got a bit screwed up.)
Olli's upload script (that tiesy refers to) still works however, but you can only resize before uploading and not after, as with your solution.
Hope you'll put some more work into it!
Kind regards,
Bas

Hello again,
@ tiesy:
Yes i see the mod from olli from 2006, but want to edit (resize/crop) images after the upload.
The enhancement to upload zip-archives and unpack them automatically is a great, so i integrate (and improve) it to my hack.
@ baZzz:
I'm working with Firefox on WindowsXP with Xampp and can't get any errors (maybe you can send me an screenshot or a more detailed description), but before that try my new version.
@ everyone:
I have worked over my hack and just finished my second version.
(Tested with WB 2.6.7 and WB 2.7 RC1 on WindowsXP with Xampp/Firefox2)
For installation details please read the 'ReadMe'
Release notes v 0.2:
added zip-support for upload (unzip directly /unzip in new directory with optional resize of images)
added multiple delete in file browser
improved layouts
improved javascript
If you have any ideas, problems or comments, please let me know
Greetings, Michael

Hello Michael,
thanks for your updates. For the WB 2.7 release, it will be too late now. However, we may integrate your stuff with a possible WB 2.8.

Works very well, Michael.
One thing though: the default setting is 100%, which results in heavier images. Less experienced users won't notice, maybe put the default value to 80% (I know, you'll get quality loss).
But anyway: a valuable contribution. Thanks.
Regards,
Vincent
