Hi,

I'd like to change the menu title for one of my links as it's getting a bit full in my navigation. At the moment it reads 'find a cottage' but I'd like to change this to 'cottages'. However, all sub pages have been nicely indexed by Google and rank well so I'm not so keen on having the page / folder structure changed.

Is there any way I can change the menu title in the navigation without changing the page or folder name? I preferably don't want to hard code the new menu title or create redirects for the old pages.

Thanks for you help!

Hello,

this is not possible in WB 2.6.7 but as a new feature integrated in the upcoming WB 2.7.

I am trying WB 2.7 (it works fine!) and this is one of the improvements I like the most!
Great work!

Hello,

simply test the first release candidate of WB 2.7 which already includes this feature.

I will, just spotted the download page now and will definitely check it out. When is it expected to be in production phase?

Thanks,

That pretty much depends on the feedback we receive for the RC1. So no date we can promise at the moment. Maybe 2 weeks, maybe more.

Hi Konrad!

Check out the settings for the page - You can change the menu-title as You like.
Even in 2.6.7 - there is no need for 2.7 as far as I can see.

Regards from Himberg, nearby Vienna.

Hi Vyni,

Thanks for your reply (from Vienna, how lovely!) but this isn't really what I'm after. I want to be able to change the menu title without changing the name of the page or folder in the url so that I don't get any broken external links or confuse the search engines.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Konrad

Aha, now I got it. If you change the menu-title the file will be renamed. I didnot pay attention to it.
So whynot make a copy of the affected file (folder) than rename the menulink to whatever You want and change back the name of the backup-file (folder) - did You try this - it looks working fine to me.

regards
Vyni

Hi Vyni,

Yes, I suppose that would work, but I am still interested to find out what ruebenwurzel and hans were referring to about the new feature in 2.7

Gentlemen, over to you?!?!?!

We have changed the menu_title and page_title handling in the RC versions of WB 2.7. But the disantvantages of the new handling let us decide, that we use in WB 2.7 Final the same handling of menu_title and page_title as in WB 2.6.7. So there are now no differences.
