Hi,
I am on virtual linux server with many user accounts(I am the admin) now the point is every user (website) has its own user and group. when I produce a new page on wb it gives it the default (apache)group and user ownership. Is it possible to change this somewhere so new pages inherit ownership form the folder (or even set it manuelly)?
Of course I can chown all wb to default apache user/group, but then the client cannot edit those files with ftp. Any solution to this? (apart from chmod all folders to 777 which I gues is not recommended?)
Thanks

Hello,

this is no Wb related question, this is server config question. So this here is the wrong place to ask. Wich files has wich ownership, in wich group they are can only be configured in your server. I've seen servers where the ftp user is always the same as the wwwrund and even in the same group, also it seems possible to have ftp and wwwrun as different user but in the same group and the most used is i think that ftp and wwwrun are different and in different groups.

Hello Mattias and thanks for the reply.
Sorry I asked the wrong question. Just in case, you think there is a php.ini setting of safe_mode (safe_mode_gid etc.) that I can use to overcome this problem?

one more question. is WB has a booking form module (where people can book rooms or cars or whatever and set time etc.) maybe a google module?

And last last thing I find your system great!!! simple and clear. Only performance must be improved (postgrSQL release...?)
Thanks again
Iti

Thanks for the compliments. The next version (WB 2.7) wich is currently in beta testing phase will be a new milestone and more easier to handle as WB 2.6.7.
The performance is depending from your server. You are the first who asked for performance. Please try to use other systems like typo3 or joomla on your server and you will see WB will be the fastest.

Hello,

basic informations about permissions please read here:

http://help.websitebaker.org/pages/en/knowledge-base/files-and-permissions.php

setting ftpuser permissions to 0777 is no problem.

Hello,

wouldn't be suphp an option?
With suphp every script is checked by its uid/gid and then run with the rights of that user,
so files created or uploaded by php will have the ownership of that account.

I currently use it on my server (hosting only a few own projects) and till now i had no problems
with different WB installations. Ok, to be honest, i also don't use a lot of addons but i think there
should be no problem...

regards,
Christian
