Hi,

I love wb and use it for most of my client's brochure style websites. However, this new site is more of a directory style website for hotels. Each hotel will have its own page (no problem here) but the folder strcuture is to be as follows:

Hotels in North England (this page displays all hotels in this area) > Hotels in Cumbria (this page displays all hotels in this county) > Hotels in Windermere (this page will display all hotels in this town) > Hotel X (this is the hotel's detail page). A short text is to be displayed on each of these pages (apart from the detail page where we will have the long text) like in the catalog module.

Ideally I would also like to be able to display the short text on additional pages such as 'Hotels in the Lake District' or 'Hotels near Airports'.

Any suggestions as to how I could use wb to do this?

Thanks for your input, please let me know if I'm not being very clear and I'll try to explain it a bit better.

Hi Konrad,

it does sound a bit challenging, because with many hotels your site would become a huge structure. I don't quite see what the technical problem is. Why not create a page "North England", then a page "Cumbria" with "North England" as parent, and so on?

You would not automatically get a short text on additional pages, though. Maybe the News module could be useful for the last stage, you'd get a nice listing of hotels with short texts and links to the details page.
With a bit of programming you might be able to use these News short texts on other pages.

To understand your ideas better, is there a website that already works in the way that you imagine yours should?

Cheers,
Ralf.

Its possible.
Just put into content of page show_menu function which will print second level of menu pages, in third level put third level show_menu and so on. shpw_menu2 can even print little description for each menu link.

Try sections.

another tip, look at the aggregator mod

what I think it can do is fetch info from child pages wich come in handy
http://www.websitebaker2.org/forum/index.php/topic,6232.0.html

The other way of doing is uild a new mod wich let you enter data for each hotel, use code sections to fetch needed data etc.

good luck,
John

Bedankt John!

The aggregator mod seems to be axactly what I'm after - I saw it before and wondered how I would ever use it but this seems to be the perfect occasion to try it!

Thanks again for reminding me,

I like the way the aggregator works and will most likely go down this route.

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to display the short text from the hotel detail pages (used on the aggregator pages) on additional pages. If I could assign the detail page to multiple parent pages then this would work quite nicely - the first parent page would be the geographical page, a second parent page could be an aggregator page for another feature of the hotel such as 'hotels near golf courses'.

Is there a module available for this? If not I might ask in the mod request forum. Or does anyone have any other suggestions? I didn't really understand the 'try sections' suggestion...

Thanks!
