Client does not support authentication protocol

Just went to my site and saw this error message:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in /home/hotelwan/public_html/framework/class.database.php on line 61

I really dont know what to do as I cant even go into Admin. The site was working fine. Dont know if it's a server problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

if it worked before, and now it doesn't work anymore without that you have made any changes first step should be to ask to hoster if he has changed something.

Thanks. They claim they didnt do any changes to cause this.

But I deleted the database user and reattached the user to the database and it worked.
