Install Permissions

Hello,
I'm new to WB and am installing my first site. I have ftp it to a "wb" directory for now on a lunix system and have set the file permissions at 755 in both webshell and filezilla. But, when I go to install, it still shows the files not being writeable. I have closed out my browsers and tried another browser just in case it is cached with no luck. Why can't I get my files to show as writeable in the install? I would appreciate some advice. thanks!

so if chmod 755 with ftp is not enough try it with 777.
