I have an updated version of websitebaker-2.6.5 to websitebaker-2.6.7
Everything has been and is fine.

But I went to update the News Mod which is Version: 2.6 to the new News Mod 2.6.1.9

Yes I unzipped and FTP the files.
I didn't overwite the old News files
Instead I renamed the folder to news-org
I made a new news folder where I upload the new files.
I ran the install.php, where a blank page opened in to a new window tab.
Nothing seamed to happen.
I went and looked at my news page, all seamed ok except the post date and time did not parse.
This was both in the short and long display.
I looked at the set up via admin and all code looked the same.

So I renamed the new file folder to news-new.
renamed news-org back to news and looked at my news page.
All looks good, just like I had it. I made a test post and all worked just fine.

So I'm thinking the install.php didn't run, nor did it throw and error?

The only thing I can think of is I forgot to set permissions on the new news folder I made so the script wouldn't run. But since I didn't get an error I wanted to check this out before I try this again being sure to set my new news folder permissions.

TIA

Hello,

why didn't you simply do the steps wich are described on the addons page? Did you read there anything about calling the install script? No. So don't wonder if it doesen't work now. Please read the advices on addonspage how to install the advanced news modul, follow these advices and you will have success.

Are you alway this rude when providing help in this forum?
I'm sure you have never lost focus and made a mistake right?

Why did I do it how I did... I had code changes I didn't want to over write so I had a reference to what those changes are and where they were. And I evidently I miss-took the run once update script line in the instructions as the install.php instead of the update_news.php... silly me right.

And now I have it installed and running.

Thank you for your assistance
Have a nice day

I tend to agree with jcheckos; I would not describe as rude, but often Matthias's replies have been brusque and at times, reprimanding. But, I also want everyone to note that Matthias is usually the first one to reply for requests of help, and his messages almost always suggest a solution. I say lets keep the friendly and supportive attitude that WebsiteBaker is based on.

Merry Christmas everyone!
