So the module team is trying to organize all the module & snippets.  I have gone through the forum and collected as many as I can find.  I know there are more listed on the forum.  If you know of one not on the list, PM me or reply to this thread.  Please provide a link to the code or forum thread.  We want all code in any condition, for any version of WB.

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=plpli5GwPMv5duIfBaD-sIA

Once we get all these modules and snippets identified we will organize them on a nice page, and have a procedure for getting your code submitted.

Greg

i was asked to post the link to http://www.websitebakers.com/ instead of the google spreadsheet.

I added most of the above list to the Unofficial & Unsupported list.  Please review and submit corrections.

Thanks for the hard work, Greg!

One request for the doc team though... an "all modules" listing.  I've been going to the list to find updated modules etc and have to go through a bunch of them trying to find the one I want.

Chopping it up into pages makes for a initial faster download, but it seems to take more time to find something specific.  I think one page with anchors would have been better.

...And a small offer of help.  I can't spend a lot of time writing everything from scratch, but if you email or PM me text, I could proof-read quickly.  Although many of the multi-lingual people here are quite fluent in English, sometimes the phrasing or idioms are ackward or spelling may slip by because of similarities (my pet twitch - "modul") between languages.  My French is so rusty, that's not a problem for me!  wink

Let me know if you are interested.

Hello,

well for some people the list is too long, for the other people the module list is too clustered  smiley
However, we are currently reworking the Add-ons page, so lets see in some month from now.

Regarding your offer in translating stuff. Simply PM me your suggestions and we will update them on either the Help website or ... Please keep in mind that the information provided needs to be identical in all languages. However, typos or rephrasing stuff should not be the problem.

Hello!

Well, the structure now at the addons isn't the very best. I mean, when a new member comes, he has "Miscellaneous", "Code Snippets", "Wrapper Module", "Core Module Replacements", and more. The problem for users that don't know the categorizing of WB modules (well, every project categorizes and names it different) is: Which is which? I think there should be some improvements - but they will come, I am sure.  cool And the "simply but much too much work" PMing is of course only a interim solution.

Hello @ all

many user ask for a  demonstration site and uptodate listing for the wb-modules and latest (newest) modul-versions, but also "old modules" and code-snippets were searched.
Why dont we make a site in additon (or instead) of this listing, where download links and other information are listed together with a "standard-installation" of the modul. The site can be updated/changed  by the (registered) authors.
I am sure, 1 site in english is enough.
For Details please see image.

What do you think about this?

Oh, it would be great shocked Even better if one could make a "test-drive"; I'm new here and sometimes I spent hours with "install-test-verify-unisntall" routine because there's no other way to know the looks and actions of a module or reading old posts about a module/snippet  just to discover it not work properly with WB'new version or something like that.

Hallo,

we talked about this several times in the leaders team. A first result of listing was in addition to our addons page where all official modules are available this here:

http://addons.websitebaker.org/pages/modules/unofficial-amp-unsupported.php

But as you see if no one actualisizes this it is outdated soon as you see. And this page is only a listing. To make a demonstration page with all actual and old modules, codes and snippets not only listed even installed and viewable and hold this up to date this is a great idea. But who makes this work over a time of more then a few weeks or months?

Yeh, I know  it's really time comsuming. But maybe we could try with voluntary groups? Like monthly tak-forces or something like that? I would volunteer wink
Forgive me if I sound a lot naïve. It's not that. I think I'm just blowing my frustration. Sorry for that.

Hello Iggy,

I like your Idea.

At this moment I have my own "sotre", where I have a overview of diffrent modules and snippets I used or I have seen.

But a complete list of all modules & snippets including some peview would be great. I agree.

We could make a volunteer group, but some one has to be the leader of that. I think if you want this to work, you need at least 4/5 people that keep this up-to-date. And people from different sub forums like German Dutch Italian and French because not everyone can see snippets/addons on the German site.

Maybe make a full list of everything and put it for download, and after that you could make a "demo" page for the module. There are like 100 modules but on the WB page are only listed like 20.

It would be nice if this would work out as expected, then you can see how many modules there are.

Hello

I think, completing the list and then starting is not a good idea.
There is the list of tomhung as a basic (in addition to the wb addon site) and so lets get started.
I will install a wb 2.7 version with the allccs2 Template so we can start with this demo site and learn about the upcoming difficulties. Everybody who will help please feel free to contact me per mail or pm.
In my oppinion the pages  must be updated by the modul's author(s)for their module.
I will integrate a author's registration page, so they will be able to update their modul information.
On this site the modul is installed without any additional work, only by using the "normal" installation mode. The author(s) can give additional information in the wysiwyg part of the side.

So, please give me just a few hours to start and create the first pages.

This seems to be a good idea - at the first glance. But there are some troubles.
For some modules there is no support anymore, other modules are in permanent development. And: there are modules or snippets one "can't see", you only can describe what they are doing.

I have made something similar with templates; most of the template authors dont care anymore. I have sorted out nearly 70% of all the templates, because there were bugs or special needs.
And I also have installed some image galleries - it took 3 days to install them, make demo-pages, find out how they work and finaly make a short description.

I think, it is better to only describe the modules, maybe have a comment function for authors/users.

Do you know this page?:
http://www.websitebaker-cms.de/templates-module/demo/modul-demo.html
http://www.websitebaker-cms.de/download/module.html
I think this is a possible way to show some modules.

Hi Chio

very nice work. Thank you for your effort.

But allow me some comments:

- I also see the problems with the updates, so in my oppinion the authors are responsible for that (so you must have a user registration)
- the modules, where nothing is to see (admin-modules and some code snippets) have to be described only (you made it ver nice) and have to be commented by the author.
- the modules should be installed by the normal installing routine. Each modul, that gives a blank page is not listed.
- additional software (for example quick time player for modul songlist) must be added in the informations.
- site should be in english for all users because of update effort.
- the site must be supported by wb, so link on the wb pages etc...
- the authors must be interested in having their module listed and shown.........so if that, they will update their information.
- the modul site must be as simple as possible. Authors can give more information on their own sites (linked on that page) as for example various style sheets and so on as you have on your site introducing the members modul (very nice!)
- I agree  that it must be a user group (but a small one) to built and support the site.

So, do you want to change your site that it fits the needs or do you want to create a new one?
There are always some troubles, but problems are to be solved.
So you made more than a first step, why don't make the next?

Please let us know your oppinion.

Maybe the server is down?
I hope it does not take too long, maybe you try again a little later?

nice pages, but i cant read anything of it, and that is just the problem what we were also talking about. There are German Modules and English ones And maybe also some Dutch ones. But not every one can read that, so a dutch guy who cant read german is not gonna view your site and then translate it. He rather starts a search on the forum for the english section.

So it is a nice page, but if you made it in english it will be better and more people can read it.
