There is a minor error in view.php line 106: "position" should be "$position".

Hello to all!

I just installed the guestbook module. Everything seemed to be fine, until I wanted to do a test entry.

When I click on the link "Add new entry" I'm redirected to the "home"-page of my wb directory and not to the page where I get the entry-form.
I had no problems during the installation, the guestbook-backend works fine as well.

So, what do I do wrong? Any ideas?

Thank's for your help!

Hello,

@atill

1. Please do not double post the same question twice in the forum. This spams the forum and didn't force the help. I deleted your double entry.

2. Please try to uninstall and reinstall the guestbook. Maybe something did went wrong during install.

3. If this didn't help can you give us some infos about your server config?

I just finished installing the guestbook module on a client site. All looks fine, but the guestbook entries still show English month names, although I have set the language of the site to Dutch. How can I change that?

Hello,

the modul has NL language file included. If you change the wb settings (or page settings) to NL it should show all in Dutch. The configuration of Date is also taken from the settings of WB. If you wanna have displayed the Date in another way, change it in settings of WB.

Have fun

Matthias

P.S.
Version 2.1 is already finished, will be released in the next few days after doing a few more tests  grin

Hello,
I'd like to ask, if this version is more spam secure as the earlier ones for I allready had a lot of problems with this and switched to another guestbook which isn't implemented into WB at all.
I would love to install a new version - an I would - if I could be sure, that it really works fine with no more problems with spam.

Any experiences on it?

Hello,

no spam protection method is secure per default. However, the 2.1 release features maths captchas (multiplication, addition and substraction) instead of graphical captchas which are more secure than the previous captcha.

However, if one mechanism is often used on websites, it is always attractive for spammers to have a closer look on the mechanism behind.

@stefek

had also problems with spam wit the old guestbook. But since introducing the new way of verification with version 2.0 on all my guestbooks since more then one month i didn't have any spam. So what i say for now, yes this spam protection works very good (again thanks to FunkyMF for the code). But also as christian wrote. The more a technic is in use the more it gets attraktive for spammer to crack this.

@christian, ruebenwurzel

Thank you both.
I'll give it a try!

The new "e- mail notification" sounds nice.
Is there some effort to implement a method where the admin himself has to give free (set on public) the entry.
This would be a great funcion in order to protect the gbook.

Hi
I have attached a Danish language translation file, DA.php, which is compatible with rel. 2.2 and 2.1.

Feel free to include it in the next release.

hI @LL

I have 2.2 running but no direkt menue.
my path is www.mywb.de/kontakt/guestbook.php
so all runnings ok.... - but the email to admin sendings mails:
"Sie haben einen neuen Gästebucheintrag http://www.mywb.de/pages/guestbook.php"
and this is false...

In the gstbk_save.php is the code:

Code:
//send mail
        if($admin_email!=""){
            $mail_subject = $MOD_GUESTBOOK['MAILSUBJECT'];
            $mail_message = $MOD_GUESTBOOK['MAILMESSAGE'].'<a href="[b]'.page_link(  '/'. page_filename( get_menu_title($page_id)) ).'[/b]" target="_blank">'.page_link(  '/'. page_filename( get_menu_title($page_id)) ).'</a>';
            $wb->mail(SERVER_EMAIL,$admin_email,$mail_subject,$mail_message);
        }

now i see the probs in this code .. can anyone help my.

In addition to that problem with the ur in the mail-link, it seems that there is a bug that allowes a bot to insert entries in the guestbook-database (advertisements, etc.).

When I made a backup of my database yesterday, I saw a lot of advertise-entries in the database-table "mod_guestbook". I'm quite shure that i didn't saw just one of these entries in the admin-backend of the guestbook module, and by now I'm still only able to see theses entries using the sql-file or having a direct look at my database via phpMyAdmin.
To me, it looks like these entries are kind of "faded-out" on the module backend, even to the view of an admin-account...

Does anybody have an idea about how this could happen, or does WB (or maybe the guestbook-module) has a security bug?
