Hi.

I have installed the latest version of Guestbook and am using WB2.7, but the only thing showing when I try to add a topic is the Settings, I can't add anything. I have uninstalled it and re-installed it. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Forgive me if this has been addressed.  I have done a search for my question, and I was unable to turn anything up.  My request is simple.  I need to know how to enable HTML content in my guestbook, so people can display images, embed youtube video, etc.  Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Hi br00tal,
Welcome to the WB community.
What you ask from the guestbook isn't possible.
And I don't think that a guestbook is intended to display youtube and photos.
Can you take a look at the WB module section or AMASP.

Luc

When you have the guestbook set NOT TO auto approve it would be nice for the person who submitted to get a message saying "thankyou we will review your message etc" Any chance of adding a message box were we can add a message to the user once they submit?

Thanks

Hi folks.

I just configured WB in MULTI LINGUAL. I have 3 languages: PL, EN and DE.

1st issue: I wanted guestbook to be "one for all PL EN and DE". I don't know how to do that. If I add a guestbook in DE or EN section it will create completly new guestbook. And I don't want that at all.   huh
2nd issue: All three guestbook's are in English , and I want to be in PL DE and EN respectively.

Any ideas ?

Cheers  afro

I don't understand how you want to have different languages within the same guestbook... How would that work? I would say install three guestbooks, one for each language. If you cannot set the language per install, just rename the modules in the info.php files, so that they have different names and install in different folders. that way they will be completely apart from each other.

Once, I implemented 3 guestbooks in 1 site. In NL, UK and FR.
Each guestbook has its own language. It makes no sense that all languages are mixed.
The language is automatically set in WB 2.7 if you follow the instructions on the help pages. Extra language can be changed in the CSS at the configuration of the guestbook.

Is it possible to ban ip's from the guestbook?
I've just installed guestbook 2.8.5 en the the unofficial ban module 1.1.1.
But the ban module doesn't work. When I add an ip I get the message "The requested URL /admin/settings/tool.php?tool=ban was not found on this server".
No tool.php was installed.
What am I doing wrong?

Sandra,

You can't ban IP's from the guestbook. But it's possible to use captcha but I think this isn't the problem.
Somebody is filling the guestbook with a lot of spam even when you use captcha.

Hello,

I sent the "editarea" to the /include directory.

Then I installed the guestbook in WB.
WB says: Installation successfull.
I made a new pade with guestbook, but after
clicking on "Options" I got the message:

----------------
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
-------------

Anything else works fine including the contact form modul.
So, what happened with the guestbook??

M.

10 minutes later....
After setting the rights to 755, I was able to access the options.
But after saving, when I tried to preview the page, I got the same message from the server. Sad

Again, 5 minutes later.....
The rights on the server were to high! After reducing... All is fine.

Nice guestbook, thanks for it!!

Hi!

I translated the language file in Italian, now I have 2 question for you:

2) Do you want this file to can use it for a next realease?

Thank you, bye!

Ok, take che english file like example and I created an Italian version.
After I put it in the language folder and I zipped it and I installed the module.
But after the module doesn't work good more, and it works again after I uninstall it and I install the module againt without the ita php language file.
Maybe I have to do something more in some other setting file a part to create a php file of my language?

Another question: can you tell me what file inside the zip I have modify If I want to change che sentence "Sign Guestbook" with another phrase or image?

Thank you!

Hi, I would think if the module doesn't work any more with your Italian language file I would think, that there is something not OK with this file. Suggestion:

Make a copy of the EN file, call it IT and just put it into the folder. Take the "AddOn File Editor" and edit the language file manually via WB and the AddOn File Editor.

You could also set the error reporting level within WB  up and report what errors you get, maybe that helps troubleshooting.

Last but not least, if you attach the file somebody else could have a "formal" look at it and find out what is wrong with it.

cheers

Hey,
I'm working with admin rights, but I'm not the admin of the side, and I cant`t find the comment function. Is it in the Frontend or in the backend, must I switch it on? I'm working with WB 2.7 and guestbook 2.8.5

Hi Sven,

To the left of the message (backend) you'll find two icons, the second being the one to edit the message. Here you can also add your comments.
