Hi,

if I like to Upload big pictures to my website baker site via Image Gallery, everything seems to work fine: I have a very small thumbnail and a small picture displayed in my website.

the problem is, when i look in the ftp-folder /wb/media/.gallery/ I find three files
  • thumb8.jpg
  • main8.jpg
  • image8.jpg
the last one, image8.jpg can be VERY big (>2MB), but it's not needed for me, it just kills webspace. If I look at the pages, only the main- and the thumb-Files are displayed here.

Question: can you somehow configure the template Image Gallery so that the original file (the one with the big size) is deleted?

Unfortunately, Users are to lazy/not expoerienced enough to resize the pics by hand.

Hello,

this is the way it should work. It is an option in the modul that the user should be able to view not only the thumb and the main also the original.

It is always better not to upload the pictures in original size and let the server with script minimze the picture. This costs not only webspace it also costs server resources. Better is to minimize all pics lokally wich should used for the webspace. There exists a lot of free tools in the net wich can do this for you if you don't have CorelDraw or Photoshop.

thanks for the answer.
For sure, you are very right not to upload the pictures in original size. Unfortunately, some of my Users are to lazy/not experienced enough to resize the pics by hand.

so, I'm looking for an very easy solution which resizes the images automatically without great waste of DiskSpace. The slow Upload and the cost of Server Resources, well, that's what I can accept.

Did anyone know another tool/gallery or a configuration option in my existing Image Gallery that will delete the big pictures an only store the resized images?

Regards, Pprian
