New Module: Lightbox

Love this module, thanks for all the hard work. I've used it as a section on another page and this is no problem:

However, the lightbox doesn't seem to work in all versions of IE7 - any ideas?

The javascript seems to wrok fine with me, but I can't see the prev and next buttons, and also the close button is a red cross. Where do I change this?

You need to focus on the CSS. That is where most of the problems for users of this module arise. Click modify in the admin area for your page and update the paths.

One question, I would like to change the configuration in the lightbox.js. The problem is that I cannot upload the edited (lightbox.js) file or upload the edited zip-module. Only the original.

Because of that I'm still stucked up with the basic configuration.

Any help how to solve this issue? Thnx

What do you mean you 'cannot upload' the edited file. You must be much more specific than that in your question.

Hi Christian,

I'm working on a website with this lightbox module which is working great.
But because the website is in another language I changed some settings in the file: lightbox_module/js/lightbox.js.

This changed file (lightbox.js) must replace the file which was already uploaded within the WB admin. (lightbox_module.zip). This does not work because I have not the right permissions to do so.

Therefore I re-packed the edited Lightbox_module to a zip file and uploaded it again. Unfortunately this does not work either.

So my question is: how can I upload edited files within the uploaded Lightbox_module?

Ok that is very clear. However this is a server related issue and there is not much I can do to help out other than offer a couple of suggestions. First off first try deleting the existing lightbox.js then uploaded the modified version. This sometimes works. Also try seeing if you are able to change the permissions on the existing lightbox.js file. If you can change them to 777. If neither of these suggestions work you can try uninstalling the lightbox module then reinstalling it with your edited zip. If that fails you will have to contact your host to resolve this problem.

Cannot change them. I just emailed my hosting provider if they can stretch up the limits.

If neither of these suggestions work you can try uninstalling the lightbox module then reinstalling it with your edited zip.

This does not work either for me.

Like you said, it should be a permission issue. I already checked the file_edit module but this mod does not let you edit javascript files.

So I wait for an answer from my hosting provider. I hope they come up with a solution.

Hi, knert

just an idea.
But You have ftp-accress at all  If yes - transfer webadmin.php (just google for it) to Your server. Then start Your explorer and call it (www.yourdomain/webadmin.php) and browse to the file which makes this headache to You - rename it to something else or just change its permission-flags  (but remember them just in case You need it again) than upload the new one. You even could change all needed folder-permissions to get access to transfer your file through ftp. (don´t forget to set it back)
After you are finished - just before leaving the webadmin - delete webadmin.php due to security-reasons. For this You can use webadmin itself.

Thnx for contributing to my question. Your answer was my solution. I didn't know the file at all. Learning still every day 
Within a minute I changed it successfully.

I think there are more WB users out there who could really use this small file (webadmin.php) because lots of hosting providers don't wanna mess wtih the security issues regarding permissions on their servers.

Hi,

I like this module. I've added the possibility to use language files, and added the dutch and english language files myself.
I've changed every English word or sentence in the backend to language variables, which are declared in the language files.
See the attached module files.
BTW: i changed the version from 0.9 to 0.91.

Gute Idee,
ich hab´ noch ein´s draufgelegt und auch die Bildanzeige (links unten übersetzt) und den Standard-Ordner auf /media gesetzt (statt /media/lightbox2) und Fehlermeldung falls einmal ein falscher Pfad angegeben wird, Version auf 0.91d gesetz, als Modul nur neu installieren und es ist upgedated.

I took Your version and completed the screen-output to german, error-message if a folder doesn´t exists and changed Version to 0.91d for upgrading. Changed the default-folder to /media. Added german language-file. So it´s full german (almost).

Ich finde das so fantastisch.
In letzter Zeit kommen so viele Anstrengungen, neue Module und Modulüberarbeitungen zu machen so häufig, dass es richtig erfrischend ist.

Dieses hier werde ich bestimmt mal einsetzen.

WAS mir aber fehlt, ist die Bildunterschrift, die man normalerweise bei der Lightbox hat.
Und ich habe mich gefragt, ob es nicht möglich wäre, Ryan's Image Gallery so zu frisieren, dass die Bilder, anstatt sie in neuer Seite zu öffnen, mit der Lightbox aufzumachen, da hat man nämlich die Möglichkeit zu jedem hochgeladenen Bild eine Description zu machen.

Nur eine Idee - ich benötige es nicht wirklich, denke aber, dass es sinvoll ist.
(Wäre ein komplett anderes Modul zum Schluß.)

Auf jeden Fall: Daumen hoch! Ganz tolle Sachen, die hier im Entstehen sind.

1. Du hast da 2 oder 3 Fehler im css, die Dir ins Template pfuschen. Im Footer mag er das float:center sicher ned, wenn´s a <div> ist, gib im Template align="center" dazu und in´s css nix, also kein float, eventuell mai ein clear: both; um sicherzustellen, dass es nix erbt. Und außerdem hast im Abschnitt html bei p padding-top und bottom jeweils a) doppelt und b) falsch deklariert. Da geht nur 1 Wert !

Das löst jetzt aber noch nicht Dein Problem bezüglich der Bildchen im Lightbox - Da steht doch im Menü irgendwo ein Hinweis - soweit ich mich erinnere - sowas wie: Wenn die vor- zurück- und Exit Bilder nicht angezeigt werden, dann stimmt was mit dem Pfad nicht. So oder so ähnlich heißt´s da. Na und das beschreibt ja Dein Wehwechen.

Schau genau auf die Verlinkung - Pfadangabe und so. - Ich hab´s momentan nirgends in Verwendung, installier´s  mir aber und schau noch genauer rein. Dann meld´ ich mich wieder.

Despite having lived in Germany for six years I am struggling to read these Deutch posts. I must have misplaced my German/English dictionary back in 1993 when I returned to the US.

Genau mein Freund.  

Da sind die kleinen Bilderchen noch nicht zu sehen. Klar ist es fertig, Aber wie es in der Computerwelt halt so ist, gibt es da unglaublich viele Kombinationen von Umgebungen und Hardware und so weiter, sodass es kaum ein Programm ohne Anpassungen auf allen Systemen macht.
Und schon gar kein Modul für ein Web-Programm. Um es optimal nutzen zu können und auch individuell gestalten zu können hat einer (oder waren es mehrere?) die glorreiche Idee der css-Formatierung gehabt.
Und in eben jener css-Formatierung (Datei, Anweisung....) findest Du unter anderem so eine Zeile

und die sagt dem Modul wo es die Grafiken findet. In diesem Fall für "zurück zum vorherigen Bild". Die css-Datei kannst Du bearbeiten, wenn Du auf den untersten "bearbeiten"-Schalter klickst.
Stell dort den richtigen Pfad ein für prev next und close und schon sind die Bilderchen auch da.

Und wennst Dich ein bisserl damit beschäftigst, hast zum Schluss eventuell sowas ähnliches.

Ist garnicht so schwer.

Genau, jetzt geht´s.

Wennst jetzt noch den Footer korrigierst, dann wird er auch im Firefox richtig angezeigt werden. Im IE ist zwar der Footer in der Mitte, aber mit´n FF ist er linksbündig. Na und die anderen Kleinigkeiten, die ich vorher erwähnt habe.

Ansonsten hast Du´s gut gemacht.

Das mit´n Hintergrund ist auch so eine css-Sache. Nach dem background-image und -repeat kommt ein "background-attachment: fixed;" und schon bleibt´s stehen. (Musst aber darauf achten Dass es "riesig" ist, wegen den heute üblichen hohen Auflösungen. Oder nur ein Teil des möglichen Bildschirmes und mit background-position bestimmen wo es sein soll - mit Verlauf auf die Hintergrund-Farbe

Aber das ist ein anderes Thema, sozusagen off-topic.

IT: ist es denn möglich beim öffnen der lightbox ... also wenn ich ein foto vergrößert anschaun will das gesamte album durchzublättern (nicht nur die gerade geöffnete seite) --> also zb alle 80 fotos nicht wie jetzt nur die 15 pro seite?!?

is it possible to view all fotos from the album, not only these fotos of the actual site of the album! e.g. if your album has 80 fotos, and it shows 10 sites(8 per site), you only can view (in the lightbox) these 8 fotos from the actual site! So hat I want to know is, if its possible to view all 80 fotos in the lightnox after each other (slideshow) - I hope you  understand it!
