Hello everyone , my daughters website ---sharas-apartments.co.uk , is i believe designed by the website baker as when we login as admin it shows website baker administration version 2.6.5.
we are no longer in contact with the origanal person who did this site for us. The visitors book on this site which someone is leaving p*** /spam and links to p*** everyday sometimes 2 and 3 times daily. We can delete these ,also they do have to leave an email address b4 leaving a message but it looks like anything with the @ is acceptable .
Who can tell  us how to stop these HORRIBLE person's,  but without stopping access to the genuine visitors.
OR trace these people so that we can then send to there server's hoping that they will be shut down.
Many thanks in advance if you can help, or point us in the right direction.

Hello!

Hoping that the spam servers will be shut down is illusionary. You could of course report it to some central ("whois" of the domain that is linked to could help) but that isn't helping much because in the time one server is shout down ten new ones are being created.

Well, the first would be upgrading to 2.6.7, teh second looking for some better solution for preventing spams. There are so many posts here in the forum (take the forum search and search after "spam"), there are many ways. I think individualisation is the best. Wink

Just build this solution into my guestbook. It's simple and easy. Should be implemented into the guestbookmodule! Thanks for this one!

i just selected the private in the search settings (visibilty)
but this looks like it makes the web site unavailable to all except admin.

The suggested solution in this thread is now built into the new version of the guestbook. Download it and your SPAM is gone. It works for me!
