There is nothing more to say. The copyright states that the copyright notice must stay intact. There is no passage that pay this guy this amount of dollars and you are free to remove it. So the answer is no, you can not pay someone, you must keep the copyright intact.

The only thing you can do is to contact Ryan via PM and ask if you can pay something.

Where do you want to remove the copyright notice?

The way I read the license is:
- You cannot remove the copyright from the source code.
- You cannot remove the copyright from the back-end (admin) pages
- But you CAN remove the copyright from the front-end pages - quote "As a common courtesy, it would be nice of you to provide a back link in the footer of the frontend of your site to the official WebsiteBaker Project site, although this is not required."

Yes, you can remove it in the frontend, as long as the backend stays intact (that is for WB Notices!).

But it is a different case with the templates ... if the template has a copyright notice it has nothing to do with WB. You need to check with the author of the design / template.

You will need to be able to edit the HTML Sourcecode of the template (index.php) though.

cheers
