For SMF has changed its licence and others are working on a big forum mod made from phpBB, I thought a light forum like punbb would also be usefull, especially for it is GPL.

This still is not completely finished, including WB menu in top of the forum has still to be implemented. But for the steps where the same as for the FreeWebShop module
See: http://forum.websitebaker.org/index.php/topic,7042.0.html
I thought =>  "why not".

please test it and report your bugs here,

greetings from belgium, sascha

Thanks!
I've thought about using punBB before, I'll have to give this a try (and the webshop too). I'm sure there will be feedback from a lot of people on both, soon!

What is needed to wrap this with the WB template?
See my posting to that question in the FreeWebShop Thread.
With punBB you might try to set the visibility of the module to "hidden", add a wrapper-page and use the link to the WB_URL/module/freewebshop/fws/index.php (copy&paste from preview).

This is pretty good, but I found some problems with the templates.

1. There are a number of templates are listed in the administration panel style drop-down, but they all seemed to look the same when selected. But then, suddenly, they started changing when I changed them in the admin panel. Not sure what's up with that.

2. Is there some way to use the header & menu styles on the top of the forum. It looks like a totally different site now.

3. The WB style seems to be absolutely plain, no style at all. Is the idea that use a wrapper or frame or something to contain the forum and then turn off the header menu?

4. There's no user id connection between WB and the forum yet, right?

Thanx, Saschas, for this module.

It's nice too be able to integrate PunBB into WB, but i wish it would be possible to login only once and it counts for both (site & forum), which actually doesn't work for me (punbb-02).

greetz,

In addition, there is a newer version (v1.2.16) of punBB out.
Is it possible to update your module?

I made a new install of the module. It's right now.
I'll test the twice login WB/Punbb to see if it's exist. Smiley

I made some changes to WB 2.7 files and punBB module files to insert users both of systems.

There is differenses to the old PunBB module:

- when user register to wb or PunBB, username and password insert into both systems
- when user forgot password and reset password, new password insert into both systems
- when user change password, new password insert into both systems
- when admin insert the user, username and password insert into both systems
- when admin change user password, new password insert into both systems

You have to replace that files to your installation:

WB:

/account/password.php
/account/signup2.php
/admin/users/add.php
/admin/users/save.php

PunnBB:

/modules/punbb/pbb/profile.php
/modules/punbb/pbb/register.php
/modules/punbb/pbb/login.php

I disabled DoS prevention (Check that someone from this IP didn't register a user within the last hour) to PunBB, if you want to enable that, remove comments into register.php file lines 82-86.

I haven't tested that solution so much, so take backups before use those files.

I'm sorry about my bad english...not my native tongue!  grin

Right now there don't seem to be any connection to certain WB groups. New punbb users are added to WB, but not to a particular group. In fact they are "groupless" in WB, so they have no rights. The same goes for new WB users: when added in WB, they are added to punbb as well, but not to a certain group. So whensuch a user logs in ineither WB or punbb, he is not automaticaly logged in in the other script as well.

Or did I miss some step?

User not logged in automaticaly punBB if user log in WB or when user log in punBB user not logged in WB automatically. Those systems are still separate and those changes what I did only insert username and password both of systems. Benefit what that solution offer is that user can "reserve" username and password both of systems.

Cant remember straightaway that are users so called "groupless"?? huh I did quick test just a moment ago and user joins members group both of systems? At weekend I have to time check this thing...probably sunday or if somebody know that thing how it goes, he/she can tell that for us?

I think, It only needs set WB and punBB cookies when user log in WB or PunBB? That makes user automatically log in both of systems? Also both cookies have to remove when user log out. That is one idea how that solution work like "one system"? If somebody have to time make this?

Ok, I check files and there is how users joins some group.

users insert into WB group:

Change add.php file line 103. Now group_id value is '4'. If your members group is something else than 4, change that value.

Users insert into punBB:

Change register.php file line 202. Now group_id value is '2'. If your members group is something else, change that value.

Those values you can check to your database. Hope that help. And one thing what I forget earlier, those files not use TABLE PREFIX, so you can't use those files if you use "wb_" prefix. You have to change few mySQL lines if you use table prefixes.

Hi all,
well I installed this module and am really happy with it. Only problem is the user double login. Has anyone worked it out?
I think this double booking story needs a solution as it hinders many great modules from being integrated in WB. Maybe one of you WB cracks can write a module which somehow solves this problem?

Anyway if anyone has worked out the punbb/WB user integration issue, please inform. If mel73 is right, it should not be a big job when we use his double insert solution.
thanks
