Hello,
Quote
I am using 2.6.5. It says that it doesnt need the upgrade script for that version. The strange is that I uploaded the previous Form module and reload from wb. Its showing Add Fields and Settings now.
Please read the advices again. Running the upgrade script is needed everytime, no matter of the WB version, only the additional patch is needed for WB 2.6.4.
To use the advanced form simply overwrite with ftp the original files with the files from the advanced modul and call once from your browser the upgrade_form.php wich comes with this modul.
Quote
But, I still cant get the email to go to my Outlook huh Emails are still going to the Submissions section in WB.
Check in the settings of your form if you have defined a email as from. If you already have done this and it doesn't work try SMTP instead of phpmail.
But I'm pretty shure using the advanced form with the right settings and SMTP Mail works.

In addition you could check out
this thread
which contains further information about that topic.
What do you mean by the following statement?

Have you tried to upload the advanced forms module, if yes have you sticked to the installation advices from the addons repository?

After setting the from address in the options to user defined and specifying an existing mail, everything works like expected.
Hello, Christian
Can you please explain what you mean by "After setting the from address in the options to user defined"? Thanks.

User defined simply means I have specified the mail address by myself for testing purposes.

I have just posted a topic in Support for the same problem. Hopefully someone out there who got it working is able to help. I am still puzzled that why some managed to get it working and not others. I have followed all the advices and still getting no where for the last 3 weeks. I like WB and do not to abandon it but getting the email to work properly is very crucial to my project

@applepie:
Sorry but what advices you have already tried?
- PHP mailer and SMTP?
- what are the from and to addresses you are using
- what you have specified as server email address
- have you installed the advanced form module and afterwards uploaded the old one; in that case the form installation will be corrupted
- what you have specified in your config.php
- have you tried to overwritte all WB2.6.5 files without config.php and /install folder
- is it possible to have access to the WB, or FTP settings to have a closer look?
Try the attached script
- Download the attached script and rename it to mail.php (nothing else).
- Set a propper email FROM and TO address row 8+9.
- upload the script into the WebsiteBaker root directory (where config.php is stored)
- start it via
http://yourdomain.com/mail.php
- set SMTP in the config.php try again
Regards Christian
P.S. Please try to specify your problems more precise, otherwise all I can do is guessing what the problem is

I tried SMPT.
My real email addresses: To:
admin@mydomain.com
From:
myname@domain.com
The admin email:
admin@mydomain.com
I tried to install but it wouldnt install the mod because the WB I am using is the latest copy. So, I deleted the folder in the mod and upload the old one. Everything seems to be working as normal.
No, i didnt try to overwrite all WB files. I am not sure if that will cause more/other problems.
I can have access to the WB files via ftp. I checked the config file and it has the right SMTP host.
I hope that answer all your questions.

Not sure what you mean by that. If you have installed the advanced form I hope you have sticked to the installation advices in the addons repository. Otherwise the form module will no longer work no matter if you upload the old files again.

No problems I can think of as long as you are overwritting an existing v2.6.4 or v2.6.5 version of websitebaker.
Do not overwrite (upload) the config.php and the entire /install folder.
This step is to ensure that all files are copied properly to your server. Some problems in the forum with the wbmailer were related to an incomplete upload of the required files.
You have mentioned that you have tried the mail.php script - fine - but what was the result
Try to specify alternative email addresses (TO: and FROM:) in the mail.php script to ensure that the problem is not related to your email provider. To do so, you need to change the variables in the mail.php script and upload it again.
In addition, try to follow the proposals I made in the
class.phpmailer.php
thread.
Thats all I can think of at the moment.

Hey Klaus, I do know what I want. I have tried the suggestions given and my email is not going to my Outlook. It just sits in the Submissions section in WB. So, I have trying to work out why this is so. Strange things happened to the server. I tried uncomment and comment the line with the smtp server in congfig.php. They both produced the same result. Puzzling. Spoke to my hosting company and they said their server is set up for smtp. I then tried the webmail and the emails are there. But, why is it not going to my Outlook.
Instaed of wasting all your time as you guys have been very helpful, I am now looking into Outlook. Hopefully I can post some suggestions for next person with similar problem. Thats what this forum is for. Learning from each other, right? Cheers guys

Arrgh,
I´ve asked serveral times to check your webmail account as mails are often put into the SPAM folder and therefore will not be delivered to mail clients like outlook by default
In addition you started two threads which give - at least to me - the impression, that the wbmailer class is causing all the troubles you have experienced.
So could you please give a quantified statement to the community if wbmailer is sending mails to the specified mail account or not and if it does, which settings you have used. If you experienced settings which did not work, post them.
Best regards
Christian
P.S.: So this was my last mail on this topic in that thread

Sorry, Christian for causing the frustration. I am pulling my hair out here. I only use wbmailer when I could not get any emails from WB. So, I dont think wbmailer is causing all trouble I have been experiencing. I can receive emails to my Webmail but not MS Exchange. That means I have to check my emails in two different places. What I have been trying to do is to get them all in one place, ie, in MS Exhange.
There is no sign of emails in SPAM folder so far. I am bangind my head on the wall trying to track down the problems
Thanks for your help. I wil get back to you in a more concrete answer once my host, email adminsitrator get back to me.
Have a great weekend, mate

Hello,
I was having similar problems with emails not being received at the relevant email address using the form module (using latest version, 2.6.5 wb)
I will share my problems and the solution which worked for me.
I uploaded the advanced form module (V2.6.2.0), and as per instructions on this thread, ftp'd the contents, overwriting the existing form files.
Then when I attempted to run the update_form.php file from the browser (with correct path etc/wb/modules/form/update_form.php) I received an error "file not found" type message.
This was quite maddening, as I double-checked the paths, copy-pasting the file name to ensure no typos and changing permissions to '777', just in case.
In the end I renamed the file updateform.php, then it worked, and installed the updates correctly.
And, most importantly, my email form now works. I receive the emails as I should.
So, old module form, standard with WB, did not work (for me), but advanced does.
Best regards,
Steve
by the way, I very much appreciate the efforts and work you have all put into this cms. It is, from my experience, the easiest and most intuitive to use.
Update:
Subsequent to above, installed WB for a client, couldn't get either form or advance form (v2.6.2.0) to work again -- no time to investigate, ditched email/form entirely, now using javascript code to display email so visitors can email my client directly.

At last guys, I have found where the problem lies. I hope this will help someone out there.
I overlooked the MX records for the domain. Doh! When I realised and changed it, it was still not working. I have always used IP address for my MX records but for some reasons this time it failed. I then tested it with my domain name (mail.mydomain.com) instead of IP on the MX records and it works. I can receive emails now!!
WB is great
