Hello,

just to let you know. There were some discussions about future versions of the Addon File Editor in the German board: Post 1, Post 2.

After giving some thoughts to it, I came to the conclusion not to implement those features into AFE.
Instead I decided to start a new project (csFileManager), which is based on the second design study linked above. This file manager will be more flexible and has PHP 5.2 as minimum requirement. On the client side, jQuery is used for visual effects. This tool will be a standalone tool - but easy to integrate into other environments. For details, just send me a PM.

AFE Status:
Bugfixes and maintenance releases for AFE will be provided, but no more features will be added to AFE by myself.

Hi,

the Addon File Editor (AFE) version 1.0.0 is available at the Add-ons repository or AMASP.

Whats new?
+ link to AFE README file is now accessible from all AFE dialogues
+ reworked CSS (contrast, width to better comply with the WB themes: argos, wb_theme, classic)
+ introduced new version numbering system <major>.<minor>.<bugfix>
+ extended copyright in all files to 2010

Installation:
Delete previous versions, then install the latest version via the WB backend. You will find the tool in the Admin-Tools section in the WB backend. Delete your browser cache and sessions if you experience problems with CSS.

Known issues:
+ resizing the textarea does not work in IE 8 due to a JS bug off the external library EditArea or the wrapper
+ the error occurs during initial loading; go back to AFE overview table then try again, this should do the trick
+ visit the EditArea Bugtracker to view the development status

Requirements:
+ Requires PHP 4.3.11 or higher
+ WB 2.8 (stable) or higher to make use of all features, WB 2.7 (limited features, see Readme)

Feedback and suggestions welcome as usual.

+ the text area now takes 98% of the width provided by the backend theme
+ shortened the info text to better integrate with the Argos theme
+ fixed smaller layout issues in IE 7 and IE 8 (compatibility mode)

Installation:
Delete previous versions, then install the latest version via the WB backend. You will find the tool in the Admin-Tools section in the WB backend. Delete your browser cache and sessions if you experience problems with CSS.

Requirements:
+ Requires PHP 4.3.11 or higher

P.S.: The issues with Edit Area introduced with WB 2.8 will be fixed in WB 2.8.1 RC3 onwards
P.P.S.: AFE v1.0.1 will also work on WB 2.8 installations without any problems

Hello,

this post is to announce that I have suspended my support for "Addon File Editor (AFE)" effective March 20, 2010.

If someone wants to develop or maintain this module any further, please feel free to do so, but keep in mind that this module is licensed under GNU GPL.

The last stable version of the module can be found on the WebsiteBaker Addons Repository.

Hello,

this post is to inform you about my trial to revive the support of the admin tool "addon-file-editor".

I pushed an initial release to GitHub with the version 2.0.0 (branched from AMASP AFE v1.1.2, identical to WB repository version). Addon File Editor (AFE) at his new home on GitHub:
https://github.com/cwsoft/wb-addon-file-editor

Next planned steps are to re-structure AFE help using GitHubs markdown syntax, so users get an idea what the module is about BEFORE installing it on their system and to update the module to work with WB 2.8.3 (two code lines).

Feel free to contribute to the Addon File Editor module using GitHubs fork and pull mechanisms.

Cheers
