Hello
I am quite new to WB and it's my first post in this forum.

I am happy with WB and love the Google-map module.

It is installed in a "de" domain, but I want the whole thing in english. How do I change the overlays "Karte, Satellit, etc. and the popups to it into english?

There is no German language module for WB installed.

Any help appreciated.

Regards

Hello,

if you use in the backend of WB the german language and in the settings of your pages is default language activated, they are marked as DE. Set all pages to EN and google map should also be in EN.

Hi Matthias,

thanks for the quick reply.

What you describe is what I thought would work. But it does not work that way.

My backend is set as follows:
settings > default settings > english;
preferences > my settings > language > english;
pages > modify/delete pages > my_google_page > change settings > language > english.

And there is only english installed as language for the backend.

And still the language on the googlemap produced is german!

I am puzzled. Any further ideas??

Hello,

if you read in on the help page from this modul (look at the settings of this modul) you will see on the todo list that the multilanguage part is not ready. But you can try the following. If you delete in the modul in the languages dir the DE.php the modul should only take the EN.php. But I'm not shure if this also affects the frontend view.

Thanks Matthias,

I have read the help page.  Looking at quote #50 I hoped there is a way around it. Deleting the de.php in the modules language dir does not have the required effect on the frontend's view.

I will practise some patience until the multilanguage part is ready.

Many thanks for your help!

Hi,

found something very puzzling. I went to a friend. Wanted to show him the situation. What do I see ? The overlays of the googlemap are in english.Mozilla, IE. I go home and check with my pc = german, my notebook via the same router = german, Mozilla, IE, Opera all the same.

What else has influence on the language of the overlays?

Dieter

Solved!!
changed the order of the preferred language settings. mozilla needed some convincing. Works a treat now!

Hello All,
I am trying to set the visability of the google-map page to none so that it does not show up in any menus and then linking to it directly from elsewhere on the page, however this does not work when set to none I get an object required error on line 32 char 22 of google-map.php?? shocked any idea on how to rectify this?

Sorry, found the problem... using the wrong menu call which broke the visibility types for the page. if your template does not use page_menu(); but still uses the page_id you could have problems.

I've been experiencing the same problem (using English in Germany but the Google Map defers to maps.google.de).  I am wondering what you were referring to when you said that you changed the "preferred language settings?"  Is that in WB or in the GMap module?  Either way I couldn't find what you were referencing.  Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers!

Hi Andrew,

I changed the language settings of the browsers on my desktop pc. In Opera to English, in Firefox, Mozilla, IE primary to English, secondary to German.

The moment I change the browser settings to German, I get a German overlay on the Googlemap, even if all of the WB installation is in English and all cookies on my machine have been deleted.

I have seen it work differently on a friends machine. We called the same map of my English WB installation with his Mozilla set to German as primary language and the language of the Googlemap overlay was in English.  huh

We do not seem to have the control , we would like to have. smiley

All the best

Matthias

hello, I've the same problem with the view of Google map, as shown in the sreenshot above [reply #50] (mean there's no transparency of the control-layers, can't switch opacity to zero in the admin-area).
I'm not very familar with css, in wich way should I change the stylesheet? and wich css do you mean?  is ist the tabcontent.css in /modules/gmap ??

hi there, my first post here but Ive had so much help from the forum that I felt I should try to give something back if I could!

I have just sorted out this issue this morning, Im a beginner/intermediate with CSS / PHP etc but I managed to solve the problem of strange coloured backgrounds etc by editing the screen.css or equivalent CSS sheet that the site template is using. You dont need to edit the CSS that comes with the googlemap module. In my case it was andreas00.css.
I found that there was formatting inside the content tag for attributes for the img tag. Once I removed the troublesome formatting on the img tag I was good to go.
Thats probably the most confusing explanation ever but feel free to ask for clarification!

Good luck

@Almer:

that means what it says:
Quote
<b>Warning</b>:  getimagesize() [<a href='function.getimagesi ze'>function.getimagesi ze</a>]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration

URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration means, that in your "php.ini" allow_url_fopen = off
If you have the possibility to edit the php.ini set it to on, otherwise ask your provider if he can do this.

Thanks for the replies.
I am working on a Dutch translation right now.

I looked into the file marker.php and there I found the word 'Startadresse' and changed it into 'Vertrekadres' but that had no affect on the live webpage. The same for the other German words.
In the samefile (marker.php) it says: input type="hidden" name="hl" value="de". This is what makes it go to the german version of Google maps. When I change de URL (on the webpage) it gives a Dutch translation.

Changing this in marker.php had no effect. Is that impossible for now?

greetings,

MacSmet

hi there, I had this issue but managed to edit the marker.php file to give english instructions, and use the australian map server. The only problem I came across was that it wasnt updated automatically - I had to go into the "edit markers" screen, change the type to Static or Popup (i think thats the translation!) and save it, then go back in and select the routeplanner popup. Seemed to load ok then.

Excellent Module !

Saves me having to do all the gmap stuff by hand. Smiley

Quick question... where can I change these values so they are in English and not German?

Regarding the Problem with visualisation (Reply #50, Page [3]):
it appears with Blueleaves, not with other templates like AllCSS e.g.
So obviously there has to be some conflicts between the Googlemap-CSS and the CSS of Blueleaves I suppose ...

Yup....

I just confirmed it with one of my interations...  Started a site with blueleaves and the same thing came out of the googlemap module...  Switched the templates to three or four of the other ones..  problem doesn't repeat...

I'm going thru the CSS now....
