Installation question

The default was set to
localhost
root

What must I enter?

only you know the details to your database server. Or maybe your webhost.

1) Create a database named wp. If you use cpanel it is named as "login"_wp where login is your login to cpanel.
2) create a user with password and add it to the database.
If the name of the user is root, in cpanel it comes as "login"_root.
You can always check the name of the database and user through cpanel in database manager
3) Now proceed with the installation and enter the names of the database, username and password.

Hi, I was just having a similar (if not the same) problem. All of my previous WB installations have been on a localHost and then transferred. Well this time I went to install it first right on the host server and I was getting the errors because the "host name" was not supposed to be "localhost."

I'm using goDaddy so this might not apply to everyone -hopefully though it'll get you somewhere. I had set up my mySQL Database already so I went to cPanel and brought up the MySQL page that had my databases listed. In the row for the database that I wanted to work with was a button to "view the connection Strings." When I clicked that it opened a little pop-up that described how to use "PHP to connect to a MySQL database on a Linux hosting account." Right in the block of code was the info I needed: the $hostname, the $username, and the $dbname. I put those values into the install wizard of website baker and it worked just fine.

Very same problem here. Previous attempts worked fine. A colleague helped me out, he suggested I use the password even though it wasn't required. Not sure if this helps. I'm not very techy so I just did what he said and now it works fine.
