Okay, this seems to be a dark area so a definitive guide would be good..

what i need to do is have an intro page (using the intro page feature), which then links to a content page with some child links immediatley visible.

I've set up wb 2.6 with using the intro page feature, now i know this doesnt work correctly so i'm ftp'ing up to the page directory as intro.php (with no html headers). I've then got a straight clickable link from that into the page i want the site to be started from , in this case, pages/about-us.php., which is a main page of the site with some child pages.

Now, i also want about-us.php (with its child pages) to be accessable from the main menu, so i've set up a menu item to link directly to about-us.php , and placed it in the top menu.

It can all be seen at www.cm.dannah.co.uk , please IGNORE the horrible layout, the people want it that way and wont budge on it.

So, is this the best way of doing things? Am i kind of right? Will search egniens be able to follow this?I really think the into/home pages things needs addressing... its very haphazard..

Don't be so impatient!  angry

about-us should be the first page in the page list, you should not need a menu link and the menu on top should be level-1 only.

okay , point taken about being impatient Cheesy

I've tried having the about us as the first page in the menu links, but then on the site there is no link to it on the top menu?

Do i need to add a homepage redirection to the 'about us' ? bearing in mind that i;m also using the intro page feature...

How do you display the top menu?
Normally, all pages of the same level are displayed (also the page currently viewed).
The intro page feature doesn't affect the menu.

Okay, that's good. If the first page has visibility 'public' and the same language setting as the other pages, it has to appear in the menu.

hmm.. odd.. it definately doesnt work.. although as yet i'm not going to fiddle with it as it took me ages to get the linktoemenu working because of page titles etc.. and if i try messing with it i may not get it back..

so, i'm just doing another WB site and i'll see what happens with that one...

Thanks for the help..

Layout seems Ok.

Would probably change the hyperlink colour from white to perhaps a dark green when hovering. White isn't good on such a light background.

Otherwise, good information.

You may want to take another look at your splash page.

On mine (Driver Shortage: HGV Driver Resources) I have put a meta redirect tag in to automatically redirect after 5 seconds. Also, I have just put a few keywords on the home page. May be an idea?
