This problem only happens on my hosted website.

I have an odd problem that when I try and save a long page I get an Internal Server Error. It is fine if I have a smaller amount of content, but once it gets longer it fails.

Bizarre. I can't work it out. Perhaps there is a character in there that's screwing everything up but I can't see it. I'm not even sure where to look for the possible cause. Is there an error log that might help me out? I'd be quite happy if someone wants to look over my content for that page and see if they can see anything that might be causing the issue.

It is not the editor at fault because it happens with or without a WYSIWYG editor.

Just bumping this topic.

Does anyone know if there is a character that WB/Database etc might not like? I will attach the html I am trying to save so you can have a quick scan and see if there is anything that would cause an Internal Server Error.

Or you are trying to enter more data then your database can hold.

Hi John. I thought that might be the case but I have had the whole article in the database with an sql import.

What I have found is that if I put "selected from" in the page (even that alone) I get an internal server error.

More testing has found that it doesn't seem to like the words "selected/selection/select" in the text. (Trial and error to find that). Sounds like a database query conflict but I can't see why. I haven't dug too far to find out I just wanted to see if anyone else can replicate it on a server. It doesn't happen for me on my local window XAMPP install.

Can anyone else replicate this kind of error?

Did just try on xampp and on linuxbased server.
No troubles with the  "selected from" text

I think it is a specific issue on your server

It might be a form of security against injection attacks or the like. I have sent a support question to my host to ask them why even the content "a selection of fromage" (select from) is causing the Internal Server Error. I now await their reply.

Just in case people wanted to know the outcome.

My host had recently installed a 'mod_security' patch which was breaking my scripts when the "POST" or "GET" global contained the words "select" followed anywhere in the text with "from" even "a selection a fromage" would break the script. They have modified their settings and that has rectified my issue.

A shame it took two days of me testing and trying for them to finally pass it to admin to have a look at.

You must be glad you found the issue.

This stuff is very hard to debug. Who would expect serverside wordfiltering?

Glad it is solved!
