I have 2 ideas:
1) Ability to arrange the pictures by date of adding and by filename.
2) Custom titles instead filname bottom of the picture.

Hey Rob,

I was browsing the modules repository and I noticed that the name has been changed to 'Another Image Gallery' (which is less confusing than 'New Image Gallery' indeed) and that the version is now 1.1 (final I presume). Have there been any (important) changes between the 1.1a and the final version?

Anyways, thanks for getting it final!

P.S. Shouldn't we (or actually ruebenwurzel, because I guess he's the only one who has the privileges to do so) change the name of this topic as well? If we don't, users might think that the 'New...' and 'Another Image Gallery' are two different image galleries. (Unless they read this of course...  smiley )

Hello,

There was a little bit confusing. 1.1a should have been 1.0a. 1.1 is the latestet and has no new features, only the install script now supports mysql5 strict mode.

Allright, now I am confused...  huh Rob attached a 1.1a version to his post above (at August 23, about 7 replies above this one). Has this version been used as the basis for the current 1.1 version that is in the repository?

Update: Never mind, I already figured it out. Rob himself is referring to the modules repository in his reply above. The file is no longer attached, so I guess it's updated in the repository.

Hello ruebenwurzel...

I am new to wb and still trying to find my way around. It is not easy to find the modules and templates for a beginner  shocked

I am looking for a nice and easy image gallerie and found your threat here. I am a bit confused as on the repository i can not find a "new" image gallerie.
Could it be that this "new" image gallerie is the one called "another" image gallerie?

if so, is there somewhere a short description to it?  for example, i am trying to make categories to sort the pictures a bit but could not find out how to do that...

Also I was looking at your page http://www.familie-gallas.de/pages/bilder.php and i liked the pdf and print-maker. is that a feature from your gallerie or another module?

thanks for help and please excuse me if any of my questions are stupied... huh
I tried to find out a lot by myself by browsing through the forum... but after a lot of time spend there, I thougth its time to ask...

thanks

Hello,

yes you are right. The new image Gallery is renamed to Another Image Gallery. To us it is very simple. FTP all your pictures in subfolders of the media dir. Add a page, choose Another Image Gallery instead of WYSIWYG as typ and then choose the folder where your pictures are. Make the rest of the settings, thats all.

The pdf from my side is made with the HTML2PDF Modul from the Addons repository. For Installation look for the html2pdf thread.

The print icon is only linked with "javascript:window.print()".

Hallo

Danke.

Hello,

as you are here in the english part of the forum it would be nice to ask in english. Try to give a short translation:

Problem: The filenames under the pictures are not centered.

Solution: Change the css settings in the modul. There is a id #filename with wich the layout of the filenames could be changed.

Hello,

go in admin interface to the page where your image gallery is. At the bottom you see the css definitions.

Hello,

if you look at the sourcecode of the generated page, you see that all preview pictures are in div containers. In the css they are defined with float left. I'm not a css guru but i think this way it is difficult to center something. Think we have to rewrite the view.php (there are the div tags) to get the result you want.

Hi all

I checked with another template and there it is ok. So I guess it is the template which makes the problem. (i use global)

This is frustrating and confusing as i (as a non programer) thought that the template makes the look of a website, now i find out that this look can be disaranged by modules. similar problem by the way in firefox.

I have no clue where to find and fix the problem now. It can not be a solution to change templates every time a mixed up design occures...

Sorry, I am a bit frustrated as those template problems happend to me bevor when I used joomla and/or xoops. I was hoping, as WB is so easy to handle, that I do not have this kind of problems anymore...  Maybe it is completely wrong to use a CMS if you are a non programer and not able to understand php and CSS....

Anyway, any suggestions of my last thougt about not using CMS or about how I can fix my problems are very welcome.

thanks in advance

Hello,

the most templates are not written from the WB developpers, they are written from community members and we can not garanty that they are all well programmed. Some are Tablebased, some are containerbased and some are mixed up. If in the style css of the template are definitions wich does not correspondend with the css of the modules you can run into problems. WB can be used without any knowledges of php, html or css but when you wanna have special results you need a little know hoe of this.

Thanks for your reply.

I did not think of it as as special result. Just a working CMS inclusive a working image gallery. I thougt that this would be more or less a normal request and that i can implement that with WB and any templates ond modules found on the official download side.

Would it not be a good idea to list (or mark) templates which are well made and are well function with wb. This would new user help a lot and also would prevent to many "stupid" questions here in the forum.
I do not know a lot about programing, but I know that templates are from a users point of few vital. A working template will make a user feel comfortable with the CMS or not.

I, for example, downloaded my template "global" from the official site under the template section. I assumed that this then would be a "good" template for wb. (technically seen)
Aparently this seems not necessarily be the case, but new users are unable to know that.

Suggestion: special, technically very well made wb templates should be already in the core download or at least be special marked in a download section.

Just an idea to help newbies like me...

Hmmm ... I see your point ... but also see this point here:

WB Has lot's of different modules. Currently every module brings it's own styling. If you try to write a template, where all the modules are styled in the CSS you as a newby still have the problem, that you will not get the output like the designer wanted ... why is that? Easy, because you still have to manually delete the style information from the module (usually in the settings).

cheers

Very difficult because this is relative. What is well made? Well made for the user, well made for www standards, well made for the frontend, well made for WB. In the most cases you only got one or two of this points together but i'm pretty shure never all.

As i say, if you wanna design pages you cannot do this without any knowledges of html, php or css.

WB has four built in templates. The best one wich is container and css based is the AllCss Template. All usertemplates from the Addons Repository are written for special pages with special wishes of the users of this pages. One of the reasons why i like WB is, that I'm totally free with my design. All is possible wit this system and that should be for the future too.

I need help. I want the max width option to reduces the pictures (like in a Image Gallery), not only to adds html width and height to the picture.
I upload pictures 1024x768 and bigger. When somebody with slow connection click on thumbnail he must wait to load the full (scaled) image. If I just upload pictures with low resolution to increase speed of loading, I will lost the full size feature... really stupid. I can't explain my trouble better, sorry. Hope to understand me and help me.

Hello,

try using different sizes. Generate from your pics lokal different versions. A thumb Version, a webpage optimized version and the original version and upload them all to you host. For the view use the thumbs and the webpage optimized version, then you can add a link like "view original size" for the users wich wanna view the original.

I needed to make the Another Image Gallery XHMTL compliant, so a copy of what I've done to the view.php file is attached for W3C validation and to save someone else time. It doesn't change anything much: alt tags, ampersands, break tags closed properly and that sort of thing.
