I am involved with a non-profit that has a web site using WebsiteBaker Version 2.6.5. I have the log-in information, but it seems the main background page is missing so I would not be able to edit or add pictures to this page which also is the consistent theme of all the other pages. The only thing I can do is change the written information on the pages. I am aware of the main WebsiteBaker Web Site. I am aware of a new version of WebsiteBaker, and I am aware that I can not upgrade from 2.6.5 straight to the latest version.

Help link does not work with the 2.6.5 admin site, which makes sense since there have many so many upgrades.

But it would seem I should be able to open a new "database" with the new version and start anew, however, I can not seem to find that information or link.

I thought I was half way knowledgeable with computers, etc., but I seem to have something missing here, or maybe I need to find a more "user friendly" web design program.

I downloaded Filezilla and was going to slowly update the 2.6.5 version, but it seems there should be an easier way, and when I tried to connect with the web site through Filezilla, it says password is incorrect, although I type in the same password that I use to access the site, and it works perfectly.

Could someone please enlighten me on what direction I should go? Am I missing the obvious?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Sincerely,

Jim

Hello,

answered this Question in the german Board some days ago.

http://www.websitebaker2.org/forum/index.php/topic,23028.msg155388.html#msg155388

Basically it decribes the procedure to make a new clean install of WB 2.8.2 SP2 in a subfolder of your domain, wirth new database entries with a different table-prefix as your existing database and then manually copy the old content to the new page.

There exists no working howto upgrade from 2.6.5 to the latest Version. Problems are the upgrade procedures from 2.6.5 to 2.7.0. Once you have a working 2.7.0 you can upgrade to 2.8.2 SP2 in one step. But to get a working 2.7 isn't that easy. So better (and faster) ist the way to make it new.

If you are interested in a more different description, please post, i try to write it in english too.

Hi Jim,

For quick design fixes of the existing site, you can try to install the Template Edit module, maybe this one works with 2.6.5.

Filezilla is a FTP-Client. You will need the FTP access data (server name, username, password). This is mandantory for upgrading or installing WB.

If i'ts such an old site, it's also quite probable that it is running with an outdated php version. The current WB 2.8.2 needs at least PHP 5.2.

Thanks for the responses. When you have the time, I would need the instructions in English.
