So do you need to use the fetch feature every day to update the prices? Also do you think pagination is in the cards for a future update?

You can see my WIP store here in case anyone needs an example.

Prices typically do not change every day on Amazon.Com - they don't change much at all really, with the exception of the occasional sale.  And even when you do a live fetch, the used prices do not always seem to be correct.  (That's nothing I can fix, looks like some kind of delay on Amazon's part.)

I don't anticipate pagination any time soon - the whole point of having group support is that you can categorize the books so that you don't have 10 pages in one category.  Most people won't go beyond the first page in any category anyway.  I'll see what I can do, but no promises.

That's cool, I'll just take care to break them down into small enough logical categories.

Ok, so I installed the module, signed up for an affiliate account, signed up for a webservices account.

There is no subscriber ID listed. Apparently there are two keys.
and a webservices account #. Additionally, I do have an affiliate ID.

What do I put in Subscriber ID field?
I tried both the access key and the account# and neither work for fetch.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Info I looked up:

    * Account Number: All Amazon Web Services accounts have an Account Number. This is a unique value that is associated with your account and that will never change. Your Account Number is displayed at the top of the Account Activity page. Should you ever need to contact Amazon about your account, it will be useful to have your Account Number handy.

    * Access Key ID and Secret Access Key: All Amazon Web Services accounts have a combination of an Access Key ID and a Secret Access Key. Include your Access Key ID in web service requests to identify yourself as the party responsible for the request. Use your Secret Access Key to sign requests to web services that require a request signature. To learn more about request signatures, including why and when you use them and how you calculate them, read our article on Amazon Web Services Request Authentication.

+++ NOTE I JUST CREATED ACCOUNT TODAY HENCE NO SUBSCRIBER ID +++

 * Subscription ID: If you created your account prior to October 11, 2005, you have a Subscription ID. If you have already built an Amazon Web Services application using your Subscription ID, you may continue using your Subscription ID. If you are building a new application, we encourage you to use your Secret Access Key and Access Key ID instead.

* Developer Token: If you signed up to use Amazon Web Services prior to August 2004, you have a Developer Token. As Developer Tokens are no longer supported and will not work with newer services, we encourage anyone who has a Developer Token to create a new account.

Thanks for your help.

I think my problem also comes down to the fact, theat they exoired the subscriber ID in favour of the public and secret key system. Since I also signed up after the deadlin, I won't be able to use your module. A shame.

Any chance you redesign? I am not a coder myself, so unfortunatly not on my side, all I can offer at the moment are translations (free for WB Modules, if they will be used with a free license)

Cheers

Where are you guys seeing this?  As of last week when I wrote the mod, they had retired the *developer ID*, in favor of the subscriber ID.  The subscriber ID not being the same as the secret key.

The old developer ID - the token- has been retired. My affiliate ID and subscription ID work fine. Maybe you are confused about what value to enter where?

Once again, great module. http://stormvisions.com/pages/amazon-store.php

bupaje  - that's what I was thinking too.  I didn't know about the subcriber ID bit before I started working on this module last week, so I have to assume that the info I read was up to date.

Guys, if it helps, I can give you an example of my IDs, so you can maybe determine what you need to put where.  My Subscriber/Subscription ID is 1QY9VFXKP4WEJQ28YC8 2.  That's the bit that's used by the fetch.  My affiliate ID is snipenet - that's what's used to generate the affiliate links to Amazon.Com to give you the credit for the sales.  The affiliate ID is one that you pick, whereas the subscrber ID is automatically generated and assigned to you.

@snipe - not sure if you plan on any other features for this but a minor suggestion -if possible- for some future version. Would it be possible to add one or two custom fields so we can access them in admin? For example if I wanted to simply add a

Editor's Choice! or Editor rating: ***** or even a message "Check Amazon for most current price for this product" so basically I could assign any title and text to these one or two fields.

Not urgent but if you find yourself tinkering and it makes sense to you ....

You obviously did not read the prior post. Shall we Restate directly from Amazon:

- Subscription IDs ONLY work with accounts created prior to Oct 11th 2005
- New applications have to use a secret access key and access key id to work

READ BELOW!

1) I did read that post - and I'm telling you that when *I* login to AWS, I do NOT see that message.  *I* did not have a subscriber ID prior to TWO WEEKS ago.  If they were phased out, HOW do I have one since my account was created well after Oct 11, 2005?

2) Being rude to someone who is trying to help you is not a good way to get a problem resolved.  Have fun sorting through this yourself, pal.
