Installation Help

I'm trying this again but are't holding my breath for any real help here.

I tried to make a fresh install of version 2.8.2 on my testing server.  All pre-installation checks checks pass, however when I try and go to the next step and install the tables etc my server shuts off and the installation halts.  I have had issues with this in that past (since 2.8 was released).  I have always  just installed the tables manually but that is a real pain.

Does anyone have nay idea why this might happen?

I have begun trying out numerous other CMSs but would like to stick with WB.  But if I can;t find a solution for this I'll be taking my sites (and modules) to another CMS with some real support and an installation that works.

can you please tell us something about your server config?

Running Mamp
PHP 5.3
MYSQL 4.1

Had the same issue on windows with WAMP with same specs.
