work in progress: Profile Gallery

I am working on a new module "Profile Gallery" (wbProfiles) that is based upon the idea that visitors can create their own "Profile" or "VCard" page. See http://www.chattergalerie.de/ to get a first impression.

Some features are:

* Skin-Support (create your own layout without having to touch the default one)
* Add your own custom fields to the reg form (german tutorial here)
* As much categories as you like (not nested in v1.0!)
* Admin can edit, lock, and/or delete entries
* Users can register (after eMail confirmation) and edit (with password) their own entry
* Search option
* Visitors can contact the profile owner using an integrated form mailer (not compromising the eMail address)

...and much more.

Too bad. Then I don't see much real live use for it... What's the use for profiles that are not related to logins?

See www.chattergalerie. de for a use case. It's running with this concept for more than 10 years now.

Edit: Most of us don't want to have totally unknown people in the WB backend. Do you? So keeping the profiles' logins seperate is for security reasons, too.

Eh.. I'm not talking about unknown people in the backend. I'd like to see a profile page that's related to WB user login with certain access rights in the frontend. That is something several clients have asked for in the past.

I hoped this new module would provide a way to do that, but that doesn't seem the case.

I've made lots of additions and corrections within the last weeks, so you may try out v0.22 now. See first post in this thread for download. Please note that you will have to upgrade wblib as well.

After discussing this issue whith the leaders of Websitebaker e.V. we decided to offer two options to Blackbird. Either put the software under a license that allows risk free usage or to remove the downloads.

Blackbird decided  to remove the downloads .

In addition just a few words from the terms and conditions.

# The file (template, module, etc.) must be free of charge.

This part is completely uncertain, as there is no user license.

# You must include the correct license in full as part of the attachment.

Again , there is no user License.
