I found that in WB2.8.2 RC5 (I didn't test previous RC's) the news module shows an error message when trying to upload a Group image using IE8 or IE9 in compatibilty mode. Can others confirm this?

It is the error from line:
Code:

$admin->print_error($MESSAGE['GENERIC']['FILE_TYPE'].' JPG (JPEG) or PNG a');

in the file save_group.php.

And what's that letter "a" doing there anyway? There is also a related message that ends with the letter "b".

Can't confirm the error. Can somebody else test?

I think the a is a broken text.

OK, I will test RC6 as well. But I am curious if a clean WB of the same version I built my site with also shows the error, or not.

Does the new News module has the post image feature that stefek added a couple of days ago?

Weird eh?

I just installed a clean Revision 1394 and tried. Indeed same error:

"Please note that the file you upload must be of the following format: JPG (JPEG) or PNG b"

So it is a bug in WB, and not something due to my local modifications. I'll try the latest RC6 as well, but I guess it's the same.

The problem is, that i can't reproduce this and so where should i search?

Maybe another User has an idea to fix. In my point of view it's not a bug by WB

With my browser original IE8 upload ok
Really? That's strange. My laptop with regular IE8 on XP shows the error, as does IE8 with IETester on my Win7 PC. I found out becasue my client called about it. He also uses XP and regular IE8.

I can give you access to my fresh, clean, empty test site with default settings. Both backend and FTP. Is that helpful?

Ich konnte den Fehler lokalisieren. Mal wieder eine Eigenart des IE

mime-type in IE = image/x-png

im Firefox = image/png

Bis später

Yes, works fine now. Thanks!

It would be very nice to have the teaser image stefek added to the news module also in the official News module. It essentially uses the group image function, plus an added thumbnail preview in the backend. See http://www.websitebaker2.org/forum/index.php?topic=21671.new;topicseen#new

We are working to fix the mime-types for different browser, so that modules can call this function by core.

Tks Argos for the info
