Already 3 years old, and still very handy stuff! But it doesn't copy content from code2 sections. It does copy the section, but without content. Can somebody update it?

Some time ago inside a german thread:
http://www.websitebaker2.org/forum/index.php/topic,10938.0.html

Not sure if it is updated at AMASP at http://www.websitebakers.com/pages/admin/admin-tools/page-cloner.php
It is updated now, and it now copies Code2 content as well. Great!

I'm not sure if I understood well, but I thought that this module will clone a page completely (page content, sections & sections settings). I was trying to use it for the purpose of cloning a page structure (sections+sections settings) but the sections settings seems to not be cloned. When I go tot the new cloned page, I have the default settings for the sections. Does anybody else had this problem?

PS I'm using the last version of the module 0.50

On my website page cloner copies the whole page with all sections. (WB2.7/PageCloner0.50)

Well, the problem was caused because on the page that I wanted cloned I have a block that uses the Bookmarks module, and this module was not supported by Page Cloner. In the meantime I made the necessary code changes to the module sources in order to support the Bookmarks module too. Everything is fine now.

If anyone needs this updated code for the Page Cloner module, please tell me.

Hi I too could do with page cloner to clone child pages as well as the main one if anyone can point me in the right direction I will code it myself if I have to love page cloner could just do with it doing more than the one page at a time routine as my structure goes like this.
Team
      Team Name
               Players
               Team Update
                        Add Player (Hidden)
                        Add Fixture (Hidden)
                        Add Stats (Hidden)

      Team Name
               Players
               Team Update
                        Add Player (Hidden)
                        Add Fixture (Hidden)
                        Add Stats (Hidden)

ETC ETC so as you can see I only have to change the main page name and security and access rights for each one it copies.
Hope someone can head me off in the right direction.

Here is a new TEST version with TEST text oudput to inform you what it is doing
Not suitable for live productions, unless you are willing to take a risk!!!

This one (version info etc NOT updated) will copy a tree of pages if needed,
copies all subpages.

Have fun,
John

Eh... I'm not willing to take a risk. What do you mean by text output to warn me? Does it put a test text in the place of the real content?

Nope, just debug info during the cloning process, informal messages what the code is doing.

Hello John,
this is a quite handy admin tool.
I can imagine how much work it can save for multi language Sites (for example).

Kind Regards,
Stefek

Hello!

Definitely this pagecloner here is very good - I don't know why it isn't at amasp, because only cloning one page doesn't make that much sense, but cloning also all subsites is really great.
I used it for the whole websitebaker2.org (created first EN pages and then used pagecloner to create all German & Dutch ones) and it worked perfectly on the fly.
The "only" problem is - that not all page settings you can define. It would be really nice if you could define e.g. the Language for all cloned pages before creating them.
But - nevertheless, perhaps it will be a feature inside WB some time...  wink

I have cloned more page with this modul.

All WYSIWYG-sections are cloned without any problems.

Sections with folowing moduls: News, Backery-Shop, Image-Galery,  Guestbook, MPForm are cloned without contents and without settings.

It is a limitation or a bug ?

It is a limitation

For page_cloner to clone a page it must know what to clone, ie waht db fields are needed for what with every module it is cloning.
The old news module was cloned without any troubles, the new one (wb 2.8.1 comes with news 3.5) has new fields etc
The other modules bakery etc, same issue

So no bug, but simply not coded in.

Thank you vBoedefeld, adding MPForm support to the list of supported page section types has made Page Cloner a really useful tool for me. Based on my initial testing, it seems to work great!

Just to summarize, according to the source code, Page Cloner will apparently correctly duplicate settings and content for in a page for the following section types:

Standard WebsiteBaker Modules that work:

  • Code
  • Form
  • WYSIWYG

Add-on Modules that work:

  • Code2
  • MPForm
  • Sitemap v3.1 - Not officially but it works!
  • WYSIWYG-History - Although it copied the WYSIWYG form correctly, the history and draft versions of the form were not included.

To round things off, at the very least it would be great to add support for the following section types which are included with websitebaker:
  • News v3.5
  • Wrapper

Page Cloner will duplicate other page section types however the content and settings may not be included.

Has has anyone had a positive experience using Page Cloner with a section type module not listed above? Please reply and let us know which worked for you and which did not.

Best regards,

Michael Milette

Look at 'tool_do_clone'
look at a specific module section 'form' for example
lines 141 through 170 for example

What the tool here does is basicly just copying datafields from existing row to newly created row
so the new section contains the same data as the old.

Basicly the page_cloner can clone every page!
If it has the correct code copy-'this-module'-routine it will clone that data as well.

exactly and not a great work...

so you don't need to add any coded functionality for special modules to the pagecloner, if the module don't use any special datasets (tables), settings or if you use basic settings (like in Sitemap). Anyway, Pagecloner copys the section to the new page.
If you need to clone exaclty the settings and datasets of your section, you will have to add this support in this easy way for any module in this specific file, as John mentioned. That was the way i did it - it is only "copy/paste"  wink

Stephan

Hi,

I'm afraid the page cloner does not clone the *settings* of a form section. The fields are copied (which is a great relief anyway), but the settings (header, footer, recipient email etc.) are replaced with the default settings.

I've already had a quick glance at do_clone.php, but had no idea, why it works with the fields and not with the settings.

(WB 2.8.1 Rev 1287, PHP 5.2.14, mySQL 5.0.84)

Might have to do with some differences in form since wb2.7

pagecloner is old Wink

Tip, look at install.php or add.php from the form module, then look at the corresponding bits of pagecloner, maybe you can figure this out.

John

Hi.

UPDATE: I will post the package here after fixing a bug with cloning the News module. That'll be some time next week, please check back then if interested.

I've done some modifications to the Page Cloner 0.54, since there were some annoyances when copying larger sites (for instance, adding another language afterwards). Here's a list of changes.

Testers needed, pm me for the files if interested.

- subpages get their original order from the 'position' field (they didn't before)
- clone and subpages inherit the language of the original (more convenient for making new languages)
- supports now also FormX (formerly only Form and MPForm)
- with MPForm and FormX, keeps the form settings and fields (not tested with Form which is over the hill pretty much?)
- added support for the News module, clones posts and settings (excludes comments)

I recommend updating the 0.54 with these changes and getting it out there but it's not my call. PM me!

Hello

I find this module great and really helpfull, but have one problem with cloning mpForm's
I have around 12 forms on my site but only the original is working right al the clone ones dont show me the "success page" all of them show me error like this
Quote
Baza UPDATE mod_mpform_results_ 338 SET field573 = 'SAD SD', field574 = 'ASDASDvcx', field575 = 'dsasadsd, ', submitted_when = '1301909265' WHERE session_id = 'ymzjjrgz' LIMIT 1Error

the error is different regarding the form.

Do I have to change the "suffix" in the Workflow Settings, or..? if how do I know which number?

Thank you
