Hi,

This is my first post so I hope it’s in the correct place. I am relatively new to WB and like it a lot. A few years ago I created a database driven site for a company wanting to allow their customers to log in and download files (mainly PDF's) specific to their company.

They now want a few changes that would mean a fairly big rewrite. I have read through quite a lot of the WB Add-ons site, with no luck. I was wondering if there is a custom module for WB that allows a user group to be created (one per company.) users allocated to that group (company employees) and once that user is logged is has access to a folder structure with docs only for their specific group (company)

For example a company called “Company 1” would have some users that could all access the folder structure below but only the Company 1 folder and sub-directory’s.

Company 1 ->
   Plans
   Lists
   Quotes

Thanks in advance.

Phill

Hi,

Thanks for that. Got it working. Quite long winded to set up all the users and files/permissions etc but might be workable. I have however found that you can go directly to a file and view it without it asking for a username/password. The files really have to be secured (redirect to logon page would be best)

Is there a way of creating a new backend procedure to automate all of these processes?

I am also probably doing somthing stupid but i cant get it to show an entire folder structure, only indervidual files, so the documents can be sorted by type and possibly date.

Is this possible with this method?

Thanks

Phill

Maybe...

...will be of use?

You can also use htaccess to prevent downloading of files directly, requiring a link from your site. And if the page with the links requires a login, then the files won't be downloadable without a login.

Just wanted to add that I was looking for this secure DL feature as well, and KitDirList works perfect.
