You can nominate your favourite module until December 31. The voting will take place in January 2011.
Please see the page linked above for more details.

Would it not be more honest to only nominate modules made in 2010?
In this case it does not reprent the past year

Maybe. But, on the other hand, as it's the first Award ever, this would be kind of unfair, wouldn't it? I don't know. Anyway, I'm just the messenger. May you use the contact form on AMASP to post your suggestion there.

I don't really think a "made in 2010" award makes sense. It isn't really obvious which module was actually written in which time. Some are 2 years old and make their way to AMASP, other's are completly rewritten in 2010... An overall nomination fits better. Perhaps the winner is not taking part the other year, but I don't think that's perfect as well...

From my point of view the
module of the year 2010
don't has to be "created" in 2010 but is the "best" module from one's point of view in 2010.
Some modules are "heavy" reworked in 2010 like foldergallery though the original module was coded much earlier.
So let's vote for the "best" module 2010 in January 2011

There seem to be some people that are not above trying to manipulate the voting.

Shame on you!!!
All who have placed a honest vote, please vote again until January 15.

Thank you!

How about "they" fix the existing voting system so that modules actually get the score that people apply, rather than all modules get 3 stars?

The existing vote module is really simple, if somebody want's to fail nobody can do anything except shutting the voting down.
Just use a more complex but not manipulatable software like
http://www.limesurvey.org/
Definitely more work, but if you want a reliable result the voting module is definitely the wrong module.
But I voted one time only AMASP and not tried to fool it live...

I think that the current module voting system is next to useless. The kernel of this idea has merit and value, but I would suggest instead of an anonymous ranking system which helps no one, you allow members to add their member names to a list on the pages of the modules that they actually use and recommend (and why). Maybe even provide links to the modules in action.

The AMASP Award was created to allow the community to show the developers what they like. It's also a simple and nice way to thank the developers of that modules for their work.
Now parts of the community fooled the honest ones by manipulating the votes.
And now YOU ask for better tools to protect the voting from - yourselves? (This does, of course, not mean the honest ones!)
I think nothing shows better the state of the project than this. It's really sad.

Just open a poll.
Take the nominees and open a poll in the forum.
Then there is no way to "manipulate" the votes.
Simple.

I just don't know what's the problem with the poll. There are about 100 votes and two probably winners that don't seem to be the result of trespassing (yes, I have voted once, so I see now the result, and before I clicked on "show result" to see what's going on).
If there are really problems then either see if it's a software problem or use another software.
But to suspect community members without proof (just in short: a German server is according to German law that forbids tracking IP-adresses without letting people know and asking people for it directly) is just ridiculos.

It's an AMASP Award. Not a WB-Forum Award. So, of course, it takes place at AMASP. But, just to repeat that, Im am only the messenger. Use the contact form at AMASP to tell your opinion to the operators.

Who suspects community members without proof everybody can see? Just you. In the public. As one of the administrators of AMASP.
And just to let you know what happens if you are basing your "proof" on IPs:
http://www.faz.net/s/Rub594835B672714A1DB1A121534F010EE1/Doc~E3FCFE8EC3AF34FEC84F22338721DCF2D~ATpl~Ecommon~Scontent.html
That's just not fair to do that in front of the community.
So if I doubt that there's any hijacking - just a marketing trick many others (and professionals) did before? The result of the vote seems fair to me.
Of course it's also not fair if somebody want's to hijack the vote.

For the record and for clarification, my earlier post about the "voting system" was not about this award, but the STAR system in AMASP. The results just don't provide anything worth while, in my opinion.
As far as this vote for Module of the Year. It's all fine. Good to recognize those who contribute so much.
But I, for one, would benefit more from knowing exactly which modules each member actually uses, and why, and possibly a short user "review" of those modules. Not to be insulting, but the fact that a very well established web designer or coder uses a module, says a lot more about it's usefulness and possibilities, than a relative new comer (like me) trying a module out in a limited way and just clicking on a star rating.
Hope this makes sense to some.

WHAT??? I'm an administrator of AMASP??? Didn't know that...
Just to clear that: I am nothing more than a module author with some registered modules at AMASP. I have nothing to do with administration or anything else there. I'm just keeping the connection between AMASP and this forum as erpe is not active here anymore. (And YOU, Michael, know exactly why...)

Well, it was introduced as an reaction to "public desire". Of course, as always, some say so and some so.
On the other hand, comments also just show a very subjective opinion. (Just take a look at Amazon or Mozilla.) You will have to build your own one anyway.

Sorry for my German here:
Also wenn es ein AMASP Modul Award ist, warum kommst Du hierher, als ferngesteuerter Messager, um die netten User dieser Community mit diesem Müll zuzuquatschen?
Wenn AMASP sich schon das "Modul Paradies" zu sein dünkt, warum wird ein Kikikram-Modülchen eingesetzt, um das Voting durchzugehen?
Ihr benutzt hier das falsche "Sprachrohr".
Macht ein "WB-Forum Users are all wrong" Announcement auf AMASP.
Hier gehört es nicht rein, und ich verstehe beim besten Willen nicht, warum die Moderatoren dieses Forums diese Beleidigungen an der Community überhaupt zulassen.

As this is the English part of the Forum, I stay with English. Didn't know this forum is censored. Mea culpa. Will never post any AMASP related things here again.

I don't understand (partly because I don't understand German) the hostility that happens on these forums. The way I see it, AMASP and WB Forum need each other to make the most of the project. Each one would suffer if you took the other away.
Why do some people have such hard heads, and thin skins??? You don't have small minds, so look at the big picture.

That would be appreciated, but not your responsibility as it wasn't your post. I did take it over to babelfish for translation, and it gave me a "broken" idea of the sentiment.

Hello SkyWriter.
I dindn't want to spread the word to widly that's why I have written in German.
The essence of my post is, why she is blaming here the WB Forum Users instead of creating a good module to do the Voting.
I also said, that this is the wrong place to "blame" people.
For this is obviously a AMASP Award, they should (if they want to blame people) do it on their own plattform.
And I wonder why none of the admins is taking action to stop this kind of blaming in some way.
