Author Topic: Looking for suitable image gallery module  (Read 385 times)

I need to add an image gallery to a WB website. So far I have tried the standard gallery module but I have a couple of issues with this. Perhaps someone can suggest how I get around these or suggest an alternative module.

1. I have installed the gallery module, added a section to a page and added images. The images are in a number of albums, clicking on the first image opens it with thumbnails of the rest of the album beneath. So far so good. However, clicking the next thumbnail opens the new image but the page reloads to the top of the page and you have to scroll down to see the image. This can become tedious. I need the new image to display in full view.

2. When viewing the large image, there are 'next' and 'previous' links below but these link to the next album and not the next image in an album.

I guess these issues relate to how albums are handled. I have looked at ther image modules but can't work out if they will do what I want. I have previously posted about this in the image gallery thread but this does not appear to be active as there have been no replies to queries for months.

Any assistance welcomed.

Maybe you'd like to give the FolderGallery a try.

http://www.websitebakers.com/pages/modules/image-galleries/foldergallery.php

I don't know if it suits your needs better, but it comes with a bunch of Lightboxes and is easy to use.

Edit: Also take a look at the jQuery Showroom: http://jquery.websitebakers.com/plugins/foldergallery.php

You can also take a look on AMASP:

www.websitebakers.c om

You can find a lot of gallery modules there..

Blackbird - thanks for the suggestion. I have installed FolderGallery and set up a test page but nothing is displayed in the admin interface. I see from AMASP that I need to set the root folder but I don't understand where to do this. Unfortunately I don't speak German and the module thread is in German. Also I assume I will need to upload some images to a folder on the server.

crnogorac081 - I have tried looking here but apart from installing and testing every gallery module I can't tell if they do what I want so I would welcome any advice as to which might be suitable.

regards,
Mike

Try this:

* Create a subfolder beneath "media", call it "gallery", for example
* Put some images into that folder
* Create a new page, type "foldergallery"
* After doing so, the FolderGallery backend will forward you to a settings page automatically (needs JavaScript)
* Select the folder you created from the dropdown; this will add all images found there to the database

OK up to stage 3. Then page opens with nothing displayed, just the section heading saying 'Block: Main Modul: foldergallery  ID: 144'

Hm. Which versions do you use? (WB, FolderGallery, PHP) Try to set PHP error settings to "E_ALL" in the backend.
