I've followed the upgrading instructions, everything should be uploaded, and I've run the upgrade script.  It halts at the end with an error message that the upgrade couldnt complete because some add-ons weren't installed.

I'm told to go to the backend and install captcha_control, js_admin, menu_link and output_filter.

I go to addons > modules, I'm supposed to go to advanced, but there is no "advanced" link there.  I try installing each of those.  I select the install.php file, but I get an error message that it is an invalid file, check the"zip" format.  I don't have any zip files for these, and can't find any in the modules repository.   What should I do?

I checked the files I just uploaded and it appears I put up the whole site.  The site's down till this is resolved, so I'm hoping someone will have a suggestion soon.

Another part of the message is:

WARNING:
can't run Upgrade, missing tables

Is there another way to add these missing tables?

I don't understand why the installation is depending on me having installed admin add-ons without telling me first, and providing me a means to install them.

I can't get into the admin anymore to find out.  It's been several years since I installed it.  The site owner uses it frequently, but I'm sure hasn't installed anything.  I think we just had an image gallery on there.

I made a full backup of all the site files.  Is it likely the old data files are still in place, since the upgrade script didn't complete?  If I just up-load that, can I at least get the site up?    I do have a csv of the database, though I haven't restored from that before.  Will I have trouble finding instructions on how to do that?

One of the reasons it might fail is missing core modules (Form, News, ...). Somewhere here in the Forum was an updated upgrade script. It might solve your issue.

Yes, I remember the preliminary steps telling me to do something about a News folder I didn't have in my folders.  Are you saying there's a script that will compensate for this?

No, I couldn't find anything.

I did restore these original files and got the site functioning in the interm.  I realized I had transposed the version number in my head.  It wasn't 2.7.6, it was 2.6.7.  I've found the instructions on how to upgrade from there.  Thanks for your help.

I've successfully upgraded from 2.6.7 to 2.7 with only one thing not making sense.  At the end of the upgrade instructions there's a step "Adjust styles of news and form modules."  It says to click on the "edit frontend.css button which can be found in the module settings of the advanced news/form module."

I can see no setting for these modules.  I don't see an "advanced newsform" module at all.  I only have separate news and form modules, and opening up the details only shows the author info, etc.  There are no setting options.

What am I missing?

The settings are available when you go to pages and then open the page with the module on it ...

You can also read up on quite some of the basic information about WB here: http://www.websitebaker2.org/en/help/user-guide/working-with-wb.php
