Hello,

Since my hosting provider upgraded to MySQL 4.1.15 I cannot do a new install of WB any more, the complete error which I get after I press Install websitebaker:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in /var/www/vhosts/xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/httpdocs/web/install/save.php on line 355

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /var/www/vhosts/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/httpdocs/web/install/save.php:355) in /var/www/vhosts/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/httpdocs/web/install/save.php on line 71

When I go back to the install page I see this error  in a red box:

Error: Database host name, username and/or password incorrect. MySQL Error:
Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

Is there a way to communicate with the SQL server by changing something in the installation script ??

Any help is really appreciated.

My host just switched to a new datacentre and I am getting this same error. I'll post back when I get a solution. A quick search on Google showed up some ideas, but none that I can act on without their help.

I don't think this is a WB issue. I think your hosting provider needs to upgrade the php version to use a newer MySQL driver version.

I am 100% certain that this is not a WB issue.

My hosting provider recently migrated to new servers, and did the dodgiest job with it. It turned out that the database name, username and password had all been changed. I thought the username and password might be different, but it hadn't occured to me that the database name had. Angry. Very angry.

Hi,

I just encountered the same problem here. The site was working fine, we got the error all of a sudden.

What I did to solve the problem was to:

1)  export the tables in my database, using phpmysql from the site cpanel.

2) I then deleted the user and database I created.

3) Recreated the database and user and assigned the user privileges and made sure it was just like before.

3) I then imported the backup into the database and it started working again.

Hope it works for you too.

best regards
