after an install on hostpapa, wb runs perfectly except 1 thing

when in a wysiwyg, trying to input an image, click on "browser" we get this error :
"The server didn't reply with a proper XML data. Please check your configuration."

little search on google found it's a FCKeditor problem, but normaly WB works great with this fonction, is it a hosting problem ?

Hello,

I'm pretty shure that your server uses php 4.4.x. This error occurs only on some special configured servers. Mostly changing to php 5.x solves this error.

Hello!

Do you have some .htaccess perhaps?
Nevertheless you could use CKEditor http://www.websitebakers.com/pages/admin/admin-tools/ckeditor.php
Well, in fact it's the very same filebrowser, but perhaps (who knows...) the error is gone then.

Hello,

@votreEspace
Please urgently remove your attached filemanager from the post above. This filemanager you have attached has the biggest security bug we've ever had in WB. With your attached filemanager everyone (yes everyone not only WB users) can upload every files they want to your webserver and take over the control of the whole webserver (not only your webspace, to all webspaces on this server).

Matthias

P.S.
I explicitely do not explain more details here, as i do not want that anyone can make use of this.

Download: http://www.websitebaker2.org/forum/index.php/topic,1670.msg121278.html#msg121278

Hope this fixes your error, if not please post.

Unfortunately, after trying all the solutions on here, I'm still getting the same "the server didn't reply with a proper xml data. please check your configuration" error.

Just like the original poster here, I also just started having these problems after moving sites to HostPapa.com.

As a test to see if fckeditor would work on the server on its own, I downloaded the latest version (from ckeditor.com), uploaded it to the server, and just changed the line in the file, editor/filemanager/connectors/php/config.php

$Config['Enabled'] = false ;

to

$Config['Enabled'] = true ;

It worked fine!

What can we do to fix this problem for the WB version?

It took me many hours, but I finally figured out why I kept getting the "The server didn't reply with a proper XML data. Please check your configuration" error.

This is what I did...

I changed

require_once('../../../../../../config.php');
require_once(WB_PATH .'/framework/class.admin.php');

to

require('../../../../../../config.php');
require(WB_PATH .'/framework/class.admin.php');

That's it! I just replaced require_once with require. Now it works perfectly.

So far, I've only encoutered this problem with WB on Hostpapa. Maybe it has something to do with some minor setting they have there, but I don't know enough about servers to speculate further.

The important thing is I got it to work, and now we know one more solution for when someone gets that XML data error.

Are you talking about your solution where you replace the filemanager? Yes, that will work, too, but as discussed in this thread, it leaves a big security hole, so it's not a very good solution. Also, it's more complicated. What could be more simple than changing 2 lines in the config.php file? I have 3 WB installations on Hostpapa, and I know for a fact that this fix works. I wouldn't have posted this fix unless I was 100% sure of its integrity after multiple tests.

Matthias, I'm using multiple WYSIWYG sections for every page, but I haven't encountered any problems yet. At least, I'm not seeing any errors. Most of my pages have at least 3 WYSIWYGs open at once, and the file browser seems to work in all the sections. Is that what you meant?

For many months I have had the same problem with FCKeditor and CKeditor.  My site is on hostpapa also.  I worked on this with Luisehahne a while back and we did not solve it.  The fix in the config file by avatar8 works fine for me, but I wish I knew why.  Hostpapa should be keen to know what their problem is.

I uninstalled my old FCK, deleted cache and cookies, downloaded and installed module version 2.9.5 and edited the config file mentioned by avatar8.  For the first time in a year, the new version of FCK worked when browsing the hostpapa server for image files.  I had been using an older version until now.

Thanks avatar8 and thanks Luisehahne who spent a lot of time helping me out on this silly problem.
