programmatically...
I need to use a side menu if a page has chidren (hence 2 columns) and 1 column layout if the page has no children...
Messed with show_menu2() without success.

Oh man,
this is discussed such a lot here in this forum:
- read your child menu into a buffer
- look if there is any content in the buffer
- if it's so - write the buffer out
- if not do nothing

search a little bit in this forum and you'll find solutions ...
