First off, I love WB and have been using it for several years. This is the first time I have experienced this.

Client switched servers. All files were moved, config set (remember, site is WORKING), database all good.

The problem is that although the site itself runs perfectly, it seems impossible to log into the admin area now. I have reset the password using "forgotten details" function and received a new password via email...the new password didn't work (just goes back to login page). Then I reset the admin password from the database (several times) using MD5 and all. Still could not log in. No other users can log in with their details either.

I've been all through the forums and have checked all previous solutions to this problem including:
 -  htaccess: there is no .htaccess file in webroot
 -  config file: URLs are set to use WWW and this is working fine
 -  redirects: Nothing is being redirected anywhere
 -  Permissions: All are set correctly
 -  settings: from phpmyadmin, browsing settings - all looks good/correct.

So what could the problem be? The WB version is 2.7, but I'm reluctant to upgrade until I have this issue solved.

MySQL v.5.0.83
PHP v.5.2.2
Safe-mode is off

ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!  grin

Well, personally I would start with upgrading to the latest WB, and see what effect it has. Perhaps it solves your problem right away...

Thanks, Argos, but after the upgrade to 2.8.1 the problem persists. I can get the system to email me a new password, but that one doesn't get me in either. It just reloads the login page as it was before I tried logging in the first time. No error messages or anything.

Anyone else seen this problem? I'm at a loss... cry

Incredibly, just figured this out. Thanks to another post, a user suggested that the server's 'phpsessions' folder might not be set up or was incorrectly set in php.ini. This WAS indeed the case here:

Client's server is with iPage. They apparently DO NOT set up a phpsessions directory automatically for you. I had to create the directory in the doc root and then edit the php.ini file to reflect the complete path (example: sessions.save_path="/home/users/id-of-account/phpsessions")

BRUTAL! This host cost me several hours of head-banging...hopefully I can save someone else the same torture.  grin

Wow, I have the same problem. I hope this fix works for me too. Thanks.
