This is great!
However, the lastmod item of the news articles in the xml contains not the real date. All dates are 1970-01-01.
I am not sure if this is related to my own installation or if others seem to have the same issue.
regards, Erik

@ EKI
wich version of the news modul did you use? The builtin or the advanced from the addons page?
@Axima
Did your snippet work with the builtin (standard) version of the newsmodul and also with the advanced version? Between this versions ar differences in the way the date is stored in the database.

Hi,
I have updated the snippet. It should work now both with standard and advanced news modules.
Thank you for your feedback.

I have some website pages (non WB pages) in my website. One of them is: http://www.greenvalleyweb.com/weather-forecast/index.php?forecast=zandh&alt=fast&pands=green+valley%2C+azThis google sitemap gives me an error: I used Opera to get a better idea of what is going on and got: XML parsing failed: syntax error (Line: 18, Character: 82)
Reparse document as HTML Error:well-formedness constraint: entity declared Specification:http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/#wf-entdeclared Would you know if there is any workaround I can do to use this google sitemap?

Hi,
you don´t need to install anything. Simply copy the php-file to the root of your website and it works like a charm. Even with 2.7 .

Hello,
please before posting try searching the forum. A search from "install.php on line 61" should give a few results.
The issue is a wrong zipped module.

Hi
i am getting warnings on my sitemap saying that all the pages should not be the same priority
ther message give is:
All the URLs in your Sitemap have the same priority. All the URLs in your Sitemap are set to the same priority (not the default priority). Priority indicates the importance of a particular URL relative to other URLs on your site, and doesn't impact your site's performance in search results. If all URLs have the same priority, Google can't tell which are more important
thanks Mike

Hi, i got the same message today! Here is an example (unfortunately in German only): Alle URLs in Ihrer XML-Sitemap haben die gleiche Priorität. I think this is new, because it's the first time i see this warning! Regards, Markus EDIT: Mike posted the English version above...

@Mike and @Markus
Try to change the priority value to 0.5 instead of 1.0. Look in the google_sitemap.php file for the code below (3 times) <priority>1.0</priority> and change it to <priority>0.5</priority>

I tried this succesfully: In the while loop $pri = '0.5'; if ($page['parent'] == 0) { if ($page['position'] == 1) { $pri = '1.0'; } } and next <priority><?php echo $pri; ?></priority> This makes your homepage priority 1.0 For the rest you can use values like 0.9 for news and 0.8 for bakery. Google is happy as long as not all priority is the same value.

I worked a bit further on the tip I gave in the last post and created a new version (v 1.2)
This version has a lot of improvements.
1. It now reports normal pages, News posts, Bakery pages and Catalog pages, including different priorities.
Normal pages are set priority 1.0 for the homepage, priority 0.6 for all root level pages and priority 0.5 for all other pages. News posts are set to 0.7 when the post is created in the last 4 weeks. Older posts will get 0.5. Bakery and Catalog pages will get priority 0.5. All priorities are configurable in the PHP file. (Your priorites might be different from mine)
2. News posts in WB2.7 (autodetected) will report the published_when date instead of the create date (only if it is used). Pages that are not currently published are not included in the sitemap.
3. The change frequency node is now implemented. Per type it is configurable in daily/weekly/monthly etc..
For all that think the above is too technical: just put the google_sitemap.php file in your root folder and tell "Google for webmasters" where it is. It should work fine with default settings.
Enjoy it,
Ruud

what´s wrong here:
2 problems, 1. External links should not be in your sitemap, they are not on your website. 2. Parameters of the url should be html encoded. I fixed both problems in this version (v 1.21) Cheers, Ruud
