[SOLVED] Upgrading 2.8.0 -> 2.8.1

Hi,
May be a dumb question but...I couldn't find any documentation about upgrading to the latest version.
Just overwrite all the files and run the upgrade script?

Hi Boudi,
yes that would do the trick if you have already WB 2.8 up and running.
Just upload all files via FTP (except config.php). Remind to backup the modules frontend/backend.css files (in case you applied any custom modifications) and the fckeditor wb_config folder.

Hello!
Of course never upload the config.php.
And: It's not really necessary to run the upgrade-script from 2.8.0 to 2.8.1.
The only database upgrade is the Newsmodule - you can use "reload add-ons" in the WB backend for that, or run the upgrade.php of the news module itself in the add-ons->modules->advanced.

@Waldschwein: Reload Add-ons will not "install" or "update" table settings. This will only work from advanced settings dialoge, which is only visible if the user has access to the Admin tools.

Hello,
it is not in all cases necessary to run the upgrade script. Uploading all files (maybe the devs could also release a changed file package for updating from 2.8.0 to 2.8.1) and calling from the backend the upgrade.php from news modul and updating the database by reloading the modules should do th trick.
Running the upgrade script from WB replaces in news-modul the settings. If you have modified the news modul to get rid of all tables (wich i do on a lot of my wb installations) all your changes gets lost. Also uploading all files overwrites frontend.css and backend.css of news and form. If you have made changes there, they also get lost (if you don't have a backup).
Im missing an howto for the upgrade. Hope this will come soon from the devs.
Meanwhile if you do the following, upgrading from WB 2.8.0 to 2.8.1 should work without issues and your Frontend and your backend works without the need ofg any further changes:
1.) Download the WB 2.8.1 Package and unzit it to your local machine
2.) Remove the install folder
3.) Remove config.php and the upgrade_script.php from the root
4.) Rename in modules/news and modules/form the frontend.css and backend.css to frontend_new.css and backend_new.css
5.) Upload the files to your server (be shure that all files are overwritten with the newones)
6.) Remove from your server the include/jquery/plugins folder (isn't needed anymore)
7.) Choose "Addons" then "Modules" then "Advanced" and Execute the upgrade.php from news modul
8.) Optional: Choose "Addons" then "Advanced" and reload the modules (only updates the modul version numbers in the database)
9.) Optional: If your news or form modul isn't displayed correct compare with AFE the frontend.css/backend.css with frontend_new.css/backend_new.css and incoporate the needed changes (new classes/id's)
That's all
Have fun
Matthias
