Talking about Filezilla, I have found that what trips me up is the ability to auto-update "if the file is newer", which sometimes it isn't. Thought this might help someone...

set the charset in the index.php from your template from "utf8" to "ISO-8859-1" then all should work

Hey Matthias! Splendid work on the FCKEditor. Listen, I have a question. I know it has been braught up earlier, but I couldn't find it...

It's about the style-dropdown in the editor. How do I get the styles defined in my templates CSS-file to show up in the dropdown-menu? Is this possible? If not, how do I redefine the current ones?

Again, well done!

Hello,

Woudloper has a solution that fckeditor uses the stylesheet from the template. I've tested it but i don't get it to work at my pages. So please be patient, we working on it and i think in the next few days i hope we will release this version.

For WB 2.6.0 there exists then an addon to edit your templates and css files from within the admin interface.

I just installed WB 2.6.0 and tried to install the FCKEditor Module.  I installed the required wysiwyg mod (overwrote old files) and then installed the FCKEditor Module.  Everything was fine until I told WB admin to use FCKEditor instead of HTMLArea.  It then moved me to the login page, but there was no text but just the log in boxes.  Entering my username and password does nothing.  When I go to my WB index directory, it gives me the following error:

Code:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /framework/class.frontend.php on line 85

Line 85 in class.frontend.php:
Code:
$get_default = $database->query($query_default);

I saved the database before installing the mod, because the mod edits some of the database tables, but restoring it does not not help.  Should this mod add a new table to the database (something like mod_fckeditor), because after installation there isn't a new table?

I want to use FCKEditor, but can not get it to work.  Anyone have any ideas?

The WYSIWYGmod is only for WB 2.5.2.

Don't use the WYSIWYGmod with WB 2.6.0

This breaks the installation of WB 2.6.0. The mod is already included in WB 2.6.0. I will update the FCKEditormodul at Completed Modules to make it clearer.

@lou
the wysiwygmod makes no entries in tables. So only reoverwrite the files from the wysiwygmod with the newer one from WB 2.6.0.
Installing the FCKEditor Modul only create an entrie in addons table. So if you restored your database and fckeditor wasn't installed in the database you restore you have to delete the folder fckeditor in your modules directory too, then reinstall FCKEditor in admin Interface.

Maybe reinstalling FCKEditor without deleting it in modules works with the new App "Reload Addons" wich you can find at advanced settings, but that i don't have tested yet. wink

Where is the image directory specified?  I installed fckeditor on a new WB 2.6.0 installation, but it can't see any of the images my client added with the media manager.  I thought it was automatically set to use the /media directory?

Hello,

if you use the latest Version of FCKEditor from Completed Modules ( V 1.8 ) choose in the Browse Server Window ResourceTyp "All" and you should see your whole /media dir.

Hope this helps

I ask you aid for an annoying problem with module FCKEDITOR v_1.8

I have previously installed the old version on WB2.5.2 and have used with succeeding and without problem this editor, than to me it appeals to very.

cry Unfortunately applying pacth WYSIWYGmod eu WB2.5.2 and installing module FCKEDITOR v_1.8 I have a t problems when I want to insert an image capturing it from the server.

The error that understood is following:  "XML request error:  Internal Serveur Error (500)"
This problem understood also with version WB2.6.0 stable.

I point out you that pero' when I job on local PC  (with winXP and EasyPhP) not have any  problem, while working on the server of my provider the problem on exposed verification always.

hmmm

couldn't reproduce this. you have nothing changed in this modul? Is there an Folder "File" in media dir? Normally FCKEditor create one at first starting of Browse Server, because FCKEditor works with "Reseource Types" and for this he need the Folders "File", "Media", "Image" and "Flash". So maybe FCKEditor has not the permissions to do this (Media dir should have CHMOD777). Try to create this folders from media section of admin interface from WB.

Hope this helps

Hello Matthias

I not have changed nothing in this modul.
The Folders "File", "Media", "Image" and "Flash" not are present (on the remote server) and these folders but there  they do not come created automatically from the FCK module when i want to insert  the images in the page to edited.

The "media" folder of WB default has the permissions 755, but also setting up the permissions to 777 folders "File", "Media", "Image" and "Flash"  do not come created.

Unfortunately  :cry:also directly creating on the remote server folders "File", "Media", "Image" and "Flash" I obtain the same error.

It is possible that there are of the problems of PHP version?  I have tried on two various server provider and I obtain always the same error.

 8-)Tank You for replay.

I'm trying to streamline this module for my clients to use themselves, and some of them are having problems.  You see, a lot of people are confused as to why they have to select a resource type when they click the "insert image" button and then browse for an image.  Even more confusing,  the first option that comes up in the "resource type" box is "File", which is ambiguous (after all, graphics are files).  Worst of all, if you select "file" or something other than Image, it DOESN'T WORK:

You see, when you click on the button to add an image, and you want to upload one, the first thing you do is click on browse.  This leads you to a dialog where you select from: "File, Image, Flash, Media, All".  I decided to test the 'File' option by uploading a PDF.  The upload worked correctly, but when I tell it to insert the .pdf, it uses image code to do so.

We need to change this.  I have some suggestions:

The "Resource Type" dropdown list is pointless and confusing if it doesn't work, and should be removed.  Either one of two things needs to happen:

a) we make buttons for each type of file (I notice there is an 'insert flash' button, but this button ALSO makes you select the resource type, which is even more pointless)

b) we merge image insert and file insert into one menu and call it 'insert item' or something.  Then, when you click on it, it asks you what to select the resource type, which would then determine the file attributes:

Images: dimensions, border, vspace, etc.
Files: Type (for icon), description, author, etc.
Flash: pretty much the same as images
Media: pretty much the same as files.

UPDATE:  Here's a flash to show you what I'm talking about and the image code that results:

It was a very hard and long work to get FCKEditor working with WB. These "ResourceTyps" and the unneeded Folders "File" "Image" .... were the biggest problems. I'm according to you that the Modul as it is now has some things that should be better, but I don't find out how to make this without rewriting a lot of Core Code from FCKEditor, which makes updates to newer versions of FCKEditor impossible. So feel free to edit the Modul and FCKEditor to what you want, and if you have a version wich works with all the things you have written, post it here.

To your Flash File. I'm wondering, why you post this. When you click the button "Insert Image" in FCKEditor FCKEditor insert an image. Thats what he should do.  wink There is no improvement what file you choose in your media dir. When you wanna insert a File then please Choose the "Link" button and you will see that FCKEditor do what you want.

Hope this is now clearer

I'm perfectly capable of using it, that's no problem!  No, the problem is the clients.  They are confused.  I will attempt to make a fix for this myself.

I also would really appreciate getting rid of those extra folders and the drop-down box.

I had a quick go at doing this, including just removing the ones other than "All" from the javascript file, but it isn't simple. I spent a few hours on it, and only managed to make the module stop working. Great...

Yah, it's a complicated interplay of inscrutable javascript and php.  That's what he meant when he said that major updates would make it impossible to upgrade with the new releases of fckeditor.  I'm not ENTIRELY sure this is true, so long as all code modifications are well documented, but it would defintely make it more difficult.

@andy: Do you think you might be able to set the drop down list to "All" and remove the other entries? That was what I was trying to do. The drop down list doesn't matter if there's only one item there.

I tried making "All" the first item, but that didn't work. I tried removing the other items except "All", and that didn't work properly either. There must indeed be some sneaky Javascript dependencies there. tongue
