Author Topic: FCKeditor and Xinha in WB 2.8  (Read 1697 times)

« on: September 28, 2009, 08:02:39 PM »

I have updated WB 2.7 to WB 2.8.  It went very well, no problems at all. But I find that I cannot use FCKeditor to browse my files as I get the same message that has been discussed here previously - "The server didn't reply with a proper XML data. Please check your configuration."  This now means I have to uninstall FCKeditor 2.6.4.1 which comes with WB2.8 and install the earlier version as suggested elsewhere.  So I wondered if I could use the latest Xinha editor, version 0.95.   I installed this as a zip file through the back end and got a message saying Xinha was installed and I chose it in WYSIWYG settings. But when I use it, I do not get a toolbar to do anything.

My questions:

Anyone got any idea why FCKeditor doesn't work to browse my server files?
Is Xinha 0.95 compatible with WB 2.8?
Does it install as other modules do?

Thanks

Hello Dietmar:

I installed your zip file through the backend.  It installed OK.  It selected OK from list of WYSIWYG modules in back end.  However I am still unable to browse my server with this version.  As far as I can see, all other features work fine.  It installed as version 2.6.5 Build 23959.  Right?

I asked my ISP about FCK and this and they said:

"Yes, we have open_basedir protection enabled. It's a security feature that prevents users from opening files outside of their home directory with php.
I'm not quite sure though why it conflicts with latest FCKEditor."

So Dietmar, I am at a loss here, but I do appreciate you trying to help me out.  I understand that new versions of FCK have an issue with open_basedir, but is it because the server function is enabled or disabled that it will not work?  I am quite confused and that is my big problem - I just don't understand this.   undecided  A FCK earlier version works OK.

Thanks for your help.

@Don:
Maybe you can change the subject of your initial post to FCKEditor and Xinha in WB 2.8.
Thought there is a new module out there called KCKeditor  grin

Hey Doc, thanks!   rolleyes  I never was a good typist.  I cannot change the reply subject headers though.  Sorry about that.

Dietmar, I uninstalled the previous version and installed your newer one.  Unfortunately I get the same results, it will not let me browse the server.  I attach a jpg of the address bar showing where it is trying to go - if this is of any help.

Edit: attach removed

the change were be made, i enabled open_basedir in my  php.ini. No chance to reproduce the error. May be with no errors, because it is a windows machine.

I will be going to look again.

Dietmar, I altered the lines 75 and 76 as suggested by mike and it still will not work.  The version I changed is:

version
2.6.5
Build 23959
Modified for WebsiteBaker Version 2.8
Modulversion 2.9.1

Maybe it has something to do with my server settings, but I cannot understand why the old version works. My server runs php 5.2.11 if that means anything.

OK I will, but before I do, just to be sure we have the same versions of the problem, here is my code around lines 75 and 76.  It is the same as yours?

Code:
   // Get the resource type directory.
    $sResourceTypePath = GetResourceTypeDirectory( $resourceType, $sCommand ) ;

    /* Ensure that the directory exists.
    $sErrorMsg = CreateServerFolder( $sResourceTypePath ) ;
    if ( $sErrorMsg != '' )   */
 if (!file_exists($sResourceTypePath))
     SendError( 1, "Error creating folder \"{$sResourceTypePath}\" ({$sErrorMsg})" ) ;

    // Return the resource type directory combined with the required path.
    return CombinePaths( $sResourceTypePath , $folderPath ) ;

I may be confused.

Dietmar, thanks for all your help on this.  I have an idea I am not the only one with this problem.

I have contacted my server for error log.  I find it was not activated in my cPanel logs.  I will also ask them if they have any ideas.

In the meantime we will rest here unless anyone else has any ideas about this.

I will get back to you in this thread if and when I get the error or any other information from hoster.

To go back, does anyone know about xhina working for WB 2.8?

Thanks Dietmar

Hi

latest Xinha release from AMASP is running fine with 2.8 on my server.
Had the same issues as you with fck Editor but I modified the io.php as described with Dietmar's latest test-version and it works fine on several servers now..

Hi erpe, OK I will try again with Xhina.  I think it is small thing that we are missing with FCK, at the stage where we cannot see the wood because of the trees.  I'll get another version from AMASP.  I take it you did a simple install of the zip file from the WB backend?

Don

Edit:  Server says no error files generated during my FCKeditor testings.

It apparently installed for me too, but when I use it, the editor opens at source code view only and no toolbar at all.

Are you sure everything is ok with your installation?
Ownership and permissions of files and directories?

Try it on another webspace........... .......

The files in the Xinha folder are a mix of 0644 and 0755.  Other than that, I cannot tell you anything more, as this is over my level of knowledge.  The original installation is over 2 years old and has been updated gradually over time from WB 2.5  to 2.8.  I had Xinha as my default editor until the security warnings.

I have no other web space I can try it on.

Oh well, I guess I'll use an early FCK or TinyMCE.

Thanks erpe
