Weird problem with Search on WB2.8 sites

Hi all, I have a weird problem with the Search function on both of my WB2.8RC2 test site and WB2.8Final client site I'm working on. In the search result excerpts ALL letter "v" are omitted. In fact, the v's are even removed from the input to start with, so searching for words with the letter v in them, have zero results. So if a page has the sentence "Valerie is going on a long vacation", searching for "vacation" will not show this page in the search results. Searching for "long" will show the page but with an excerpt that shows the sentence like " alerie is going on a long  acation". Instead of the v's a space is shown.

Can anyone confirm this as a bug, or is there something wrong with my installations?

seems to be an issue with the php-version.
