Hi,

I received a request to make categories site.

It supposed to have menu item- Categories in main menu, with Categories and Subcategories in it.  Each item in subcategory should have their own dedicated page..

Now I am wondering which is best module (or work around) for this (blog menu, topics...or some other ??)

It supposed to be something like yellow pages for companies..

cheers

Can't you that by simply creating a few parent pages as you category headings then creat child pages under those?

What I basicly need is that I have something ordered like this..

For example first category: Cars and staff (10) -- in () to be number of items
Has subcategories like: Auto (3), Service(1), Suv (4), Gas stations (2)..
Then, Gas station contains:
Gas station 1
Gas Station 2

Then, Gas station 1, should have own page..

With that way (using menu) I would have a lot of pages..

Is there some simple module for this ? Some simplest module with categories and subcategories ??

cheers

Hello Ivan,

there is no such a module for WB CMS now.

You will need to build it yourself or using help from a good coder in the forum.

I can see that this is a good Idea.

If I would need such a solution, I would try it with Bakery and Members.
But in that case, too, you will need adjustments to get the (numbers) displayed in there.

Kind Regards,

That is good idea, but are there any volunteers ??

I was looking for some modules in the AMASP.. but count find anything suitable as starting point.. I have no coder skills, so I can basicly only cut the code, not add it Smiley

I was checking those two modules, but..

The members module is great, but it doesnt have option to make a subgroup of some group..

Bakery is very good module, but too huge to be edited just for this, as there are lot of features in bakery Smiley
(maybe if someone have the first version to give me, which would be without much features, I could give it a try..)

so I am kind a stuck Smiley and I am considering to give up this project.. cry

All best,
Ivan

Hello Ivan.

I can feel it..
I am also no coder at all and I admire those guys...  cool

Have you also checked the "multilanguage catalog module"?
This is maybe a better starting point.

But here you will also have the need to adjust the code in order to have the numers of subcats displayed.

My experience is, that you will sometimes find a volunteer if the project/module is also interesting for the coder himself (challenge, need, etc.).
In other cases, sometimes, it is wise to ask a good coder how much he will take for slight adjustments.

You will find a lot of good coders here in the forum.
If your project is worth it, you probably have some budget to share the work. I did so already and it is often the better choice (instead of "giving up" the whole project).  smiley

What about something like this:  http://sandbox.net63.net/pages/modules/faq-maker.php?.  I can modify it for you to show the (#) and if you can give me a sample of the data you're going to store I can modify the database tables and php code to fit your application.

Hello,
I'm also interested in a categories organisation of my site. It's an online magazine (www.elespectadorima ginario.com) and articles are organised by month issues of the magazine. What I need is something similar to the nested subitems of the sidebar menu. How did you do that?

Hello Ivan.

One suggestion:
Use the "Bookmark" Module in combination with the "Members" Modul.

Never thought about this combination?
