/media on an external server

Hello,

is it possible to have /media on a different server than the website itself.

Reason: we are using reliable and expensive hosting but for pictures (media database under /media) we can go with cheap hosting.

WB is for sure not made to support this kind of setup. If it's possible, I suspect with extensive recoding of the media handling it is possible. Depending on where you would use the images it actually should not be a problem:

1) Template - Hard coding the links to a different URL - Possible
2) With the modules it depends on he module used ...
3) Backend Media Handling - I doubt it
