i'm not sure if i am allowed to do this...
if you don't like this please delete this post - no offence Wink

i attached the module to this post, since none of the links is working anymore...

Olli, no offence here, it is actually allowed to post files in this forum wink ... The Add-On Repository is actually available for all completed modules.

There are unfortunatly modules (like this catalog) which are not completed in the sense, that for one user they work out of the box and for others (with different server configurations) they don't ... so, if it's tried and tested, you find it at the add-on repository, if not ... some old modules (also the not completed ones) can be downloaded from my [Edit: Link removed] personal webspacebut that is an unmaintained list and won't be updated.

cheers

Hi,

I have just installed vs3 of the Catalogue module. I receive the following error though...

Quote
Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/homepages/44/d170283864/htdocs/zuzabooks/include/smarty/Smarty.class.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /homepages/44/d170283864/htdocs/zuzabooks/modules/catalogs/view.php on line 24

I heard that I need something called Smarty. Is this correct? What the hell is it, and how do I install it into WB?

Many thanks.

Hi...
you can download smarty higher up in this thread
http://forum.websitebaker.org/index.php/topic,1463.msg25643.html#msg25643
or from my sited where you got the version you installed... (added it this morning)
instructions for install:
http://forum.websitebaker.org/index.php/topic,1460.msg8769.html#msg8769
Quote
The front-end uses Smarty, so you have to include a new folder called 'smarty' in the 'include' folder of wbaker with the contents of the file smarty.zip decompressed.

Hope this helps

The element fails to show a thumbnail for the element. There is just a reference to the graphic.

Code:
<IMG SRC=WBURL/media/cat_pics/3_bull_wack.JPG width="25%" height="25%">

Help!

Hi.

Currently that is the way it works... no thumbnails have been created...

I'll add it to the list of todos for this module... to display a thumbnail and link to the full sized image.

Great module  smiley. Almost exactly what i wanted.
Not sure why it is not in official addons page.

My only complains so far.
Thumbs not working or not exist (but that not very important if images not very big )
No settings to change virtualy resized images size (even searched code but wasn't able to found  sad)

the reason for it not beeing available on the add-on repository is, that this modules still has too many errors and is not always working.

cheers

Truly a GREAT addon!

For a real estate agent I was looking for a single page in which they could line up several propertys underneath each other with lots of short/long descriptions and image handling. Until this addon I couldn't find anything that came near this.

The pros:
+ creation of different cats
+ short & long description
+ auto create 1 image together with the short description
+ add multiple images that shows up when entering the long description
+ auto thumb creation
+ add file(s)
+ add url(s)

The cons:
- no WYSISYG editor !

The output is fully placed underneath on a single page  cheesy

I read a lot of posts in which there were fatal errors. I attached the version (cat + smarty) which fully worked with WB 2.6.7

Cheers

I have installed this module and I am hoping to use it to provide a list of recipes on the site.

Just a couple of queries :

1.  I have set up some initial categories for recipes (3 no.). These have ids from 2 to 4. I have checked the database table and it has two entries with an id of 1. Is this correct? The page is displaying 'There are no elements in this category' when I haven't selected a category.

2.  I have added some text to the General header. At the moment this displays after the list of categories when I would have expected it to display before, immediately after the page title. I presume I need to change a file which determines the page layout but I'm not sure which file this would be. I thought it ought to be view.php but I don't see the html in this file. At the beginning of the view.php file it appears to be checking for a file called catalogs.tpl in the templates folder but I don't have this file installed.

The page can be viewed at http://tinyurl.com/32few5.

Otherwise this mod looks very useful.

Hi,

I've used this module in the past and it's always worked fine. I have now installed it (and the smarty files) on www.correctflow.com and it when clicking on one of the items for the long description it return a page not found.

The address seems to be correct - any ideas what it could be? I've downloaded the mod and the smrty files again and overwritten the old ones just to make sure.

The page is at http://www.correctflow.com/pages/spas-tubs/showroom-models.php.

Thanks,

Konrad

I have installed this module in a site I am currently working on. To make it easier to modify the layout of the page display I have converted the template files to remove all tables and styling information. Now using divs and a .css file.

For anyone who would like to use them I have attached a zip file with the new files. No quarantee that these will work in every site but they are fine in mine. The background colours of the various sections are to allow easy viewing of the section positions and can be changed once you have modified your layout. I hope it is pretty much self-explanatory but any comments welcome. Please let me know of any problems and I may be able to correct.

cheers,
Mike

I have already translated I catalog module to English.  Now in the folder of the module, there is a subfolder called 'language' with a file by each language.
The front-end uses Smarty, so you have to include a new folder called 'smarty' in the 'include' folder of wbaker with the contents of the file smarty.zip decompressed.

You can download from
http://www.neofis.com/wb/catalogs.zip
http://www.neofis.com/wb/smarty.zip

You can see in action in this page:

Hi aldus,

I deinstalled the module and installed it new now (only the catalog.zip from the folder) and it is working without errors.

What have you done (or I??) ? Thanks for helping!!!!

I too can use it on 2.7. The big surprise to me was that now there is an FCK editor availale. So this program is getting better and better. I'm now working on a website with this module. When it is ready I give you the url so you can watch the result of the Catalog module.

For a customer (estateseller) again I'm working with the Catalog module. Great stuff!

But yesterday I checked the mediablog because there were some small things I missed in the Catalog Mod.

The biggest advantage of the Mediablog is the possibility to create colums! This is what I'm missing in the Catalog Module.

I'm not able to merge these 2 together or intergrate the columnchoice into the Catalog blog.

I'm not asking for merging these 2 great addons together but personally I think it would be a boost for Catalog if this option would be available once because it is a very nice, underestimated addon.
