Hi,
It's not easy to implement your suggestion since this mod is not an official mod but more like a test-mod.
However you can ask Thorn if there's any way to implement his feature into his search mod.

I vote to make it official.
The mod allows a lot of flexibility with the custom fields and the ability to customize groups and so on. If this isn't ever going to be official then I'l love to see something similar and would like to see some discussion as to the features from a users perspective - not only a programmers perspective. I found this mod allows itself to be adapted to various situations and so this is very desirable.

Hello Boudi.
I really like this module and I am going to use it in one of my future projects.
Unfortunatly I still get error reposts if my Error Reports is set to
E_ALL
.
Testet on Xampp / WinXP

Hi Stefek,
I didn't write the original module since I'm not a coder
. But what I did was pick it up because I thought this mod had great potential. So I added some small changes (with help) to make this mod even more usuable.
Personally I think this mod deserves further attention and indeed get rid of the small errors like you noticed.
Overall the mod now works good but with some help this mod is capable of getting an official mod like Bupaje said
.
So if anyone is willing to pick this up then we all are thankfull.

Allright,
thank you for your kind anwer.
So let's see what can be done about this.
I am going to use it for a current project (not started yet), and I have (besides of the errors) some additional ideas for improvement.
One thing is: I don't really like the smarty thing (but i can live with). I prefere the way all other WB Modules are handled (with html loops in the settings).
Second: I would love to have the possibility to create fields like in Ruud's Module (Portfolio).
Is there anybody else with ideas on how to improve this module?

Stefek

Hi there,
A client of me is facing a problem. He is not able to move the products in the catalog up or down.
He's receiving the following error:
Code:
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'WB_PATH/modules/catalogs/languages/EN.php' (include_path='.:.:') in /var/www/vhosts/carsite.com/httpdocs/modules/catalogs/modify.php on line 26
I could not find any error? Did some language changes but even then this error keeps coming so obviously there's something not right.
Did anyone has or had the same problems?

Hi Gila,
Thnq for taking the time to try to solve this error. Really appreciate it.
1 error is solved now: moving of categories! That works now!
But it is still
not
possible to move the products within the categories. I still recieve the same error.

That is due to your reporting level ... notices are not errors ... anyway, if I remember correctly this module hasn't been touched for a while now.
cheers

Hi,
I was trying to make these canges myself, but had no luck..so I have few questions:
Is there a way to style the catalog list as <ul> ??
To be for example:
* Catalog 1
* Catalog 2
- Sub catalog 1
- Sub catalog 2
*Catalog 3
..
Here is a code for this
Code:
function categories($database,$section_id,$parent,$posiciones)
{
$query_cats = $database->query("SELECT * FROM `".TABLE_PREFIX."mod_catalogs_cats` WHERE active='1' AND parent='$parent' AND section_id='$section_id' ORDER BY position ASC");
if($query_cats->numRows() > 0)
{
echo "<ul>";
while($cat = $query_cats->fetchRow())
{
$query_link = $database->query("SELECT link FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."pages WHERE page_id = '".PAGE_ID."' LIMIT 1");
if($query_link->numRows() > 0) {
$fetch_link = $query_link->fetchRow();
$hasta=0;
while ($hasta!=$posiciones)
{
// echo " ";
$hasta=$hasta+1;
}
echo "<li><a href=\"";
echo page_link($fetch_link['link']);
echo "?cat_id=".$cat["cat_id"]."\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">";
echo $cat['title'];
echo "</a></li>";
}
echo " ";
$query_sub_cats = $database->query("SELECT * FROM `".TABLE_PREFIX."mod_catalogs_cats` WHERE active='1' AND parent=".$cat['cat_id']." AND section_id='$section_id' ORDER BY position ASC");
if($query_sub_cats->numRows() > 0)
{
$padre=$cat['cat_id'];
$nuevas_posiciones=$posiciones+1;
categories($database,$section_id,$padre,$nuevas_posiciones);
}
}
}
echo "</ul>";
}
Now it will be much easier to restyle the list
)
I still cant figure out how to do this:
Also is it possible to have a number of items in each catalog, like:
* Catalog 1 (5)
* Catalog 2 (10)
- Sub catalog 1 (3)
- Sub catalog 2 (7)
*Catalog 3 (20)
And, when you click on Catalog 2, below it is shown the list of items in catalog 2, BUT NO Subcatalogs in it..
cheers

Hello Ivan,
as far as I remember, there should be a directory inside of the module including the Smarty Template Files.
There you can make your changes, I guess.

I figured out first part, but still cant figure out seccond..
I have no idea what this Smarty does, as this is 2 modules combined..so I cant use variables from catalog for direct output..

Yes Ivan, this module is totally different to all other modules.
WebsiteBaker Modules generally uses "Loops" instead of loose template files in the Modules-Directory.
This one does.
And at the top of all, it uses "smarty template engine" which is unfamiliar to all other WB-Modules.
Salute,
Stefek

Just want to know if you make some progress on this.
If yes, good.
I otherwise would install the module and give it a try once again.
I am also interested in the Idea to have the numbers displayed in this module.
Maybe we can work together on this.
Maybe some coder helps with this number thingy and we have a better module.

I am using this module for a listing of advertisers on a site. There are various categories of advertiser and one advertiser could fall into more than one category.
Is it possible to list under more than one category, eg can multiple numbers be included in the cat_id field? I suspect not as the category affects the url in the links field. Perhaps the only way is to list twice under different categories but this could become tedious? Any suggestions welcome.

Hi Mike,
To be honest, this is a great mod with huge potentials but the problem is is that it needs development. The original author isn't along us any more (as far as I know) and on this moment this mod is a 'shelf' mod
.
So feel free to edit stuff If you like. But for answers regaring this mod...I think you don't get a lot.
Good luck

Norwegian language file.
In a desperate try to get some excitement after a long night with sleep deprivation,
I updated my smarty to v.3.0b8, and believe it or not, it still works.
well so far so good.

I am using this module on a site I am developing to list advertisers with addresses and information about their business. I understand that the module is probably not being actively developed at the moment but I have an idea for a feature request or snippet.
I would like to be able to display a random selection of, say, 2or 3 advertisers in a box, a bit like the anynews snippet, which changes on every page load. If anyone can suggest something simple or code a snippet that would be great. Otherwise I might look at modifying the anynews snippet.
TIA
Mike
