When I type a news post for my site, in most cases, I would like to have the entire article displayed on the main news page, rather than providing a summary that users have to click on to read the whole article. Normally I would just type it into the Short box and then the Read More link would not appear.

My problem is that the header for the news article still is a link and if it is clicked on it takes me to an empty page.

Yes, I can remove the link from the header but then I can no longer provide a direct link to a news story.

Is there any way to use the news module so that each article has its own page? (but without having to duplicate the Short content in the Long box, or have the Read More link appear when there really is no "more" to read?) I would also like the option of typing a summary and then having a link to the full article if it is a really long article.

Can this be done?

The module "Topics" is similar to "News" and works like you want.
But its beta and has some (minor) bugs in V0.3.
