Hi there,

I've allready posted a topic in the Dutch area, but i think all Dutchies are laying in the sun Wink

I'm fresh and new to WB and i am trying for the first tim eto implement a website with WB.
So far so good and it's quite understandable.
Now i've reached a point that i want to sort my news articles. The CMS i used to use had a simple code i had to place in the include code in the source of the template.
Code:
$sort = array('date', 'ASC');
But how can i sort my default news articles in WB? Isn't there an option somewhere in the admin section? (wich i can't find...)

I know that there is AnyNews and i have tried to use it. But i am not able yet to figure out how it actually work.
So my main question is, how can i sort my news articles by date, asc and/or desc?
Right now the newest articles are automaticly place under the old ones. It should be the opposite though, newest on top...

Allthough, i think WB is overall a cms i definitely would use as my standard system.
Great application guys! Hope 2.8 will be even better and easier then 2.7... 5 days to go, right? Wink

Edit: I've tried to search on the topic, but the results brought me many, many topics but unfortunately not one of them got an answer for me.

Thanks

gr
Dave

The news are sorted by hand - you can do this in the backend at the site you manage your news. If there is more than one news, two arrows (up and down) are shown at the right side of the news list. Here you can adjust the order. It's the same like ordering the pages.

Hi Michael,

I know you can sort articles by pressing the little arrows. Right now i am doing it this way.
But when the website will be used by the client, there will become much more articles.
What to do when there are 50+ news articles...
Don't get me wrong, but there should be a default option in WB admin where you can choose, order by... date or any kind of order. It's not even a humanly expectations to have the newest article on the bottom...  rolleyes
I appreciate your answer very (and i quite expected that somebody would come with this answer.. Cheesy ) However i will investigate what possibilities i can find on this one and patiently wait for an other comment here.

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

I don't see a problem in your case. You want to have the newest article on top - this is the standard order of news items. The number of articles is no matter here because it doesn't change the order and you don't have more work.

Alternatively you can take a look at the topics-modul. It has the possibility to change the order from manual to date.

How 'bout that.
I haven't done anything to the core files of WB and the only thing i placed in the template is the <?php page_content(); ?> tag to show the news.
And new articles still coming on the bottom of the page. How odd.
You know, i think i will erase the current database and installation of WB and start from the beginning.
It's not much work though and i will be sure i haven't change any tiny important settings.
If my news still be placed below the older ones, i will returning back here Wink

Thanks again Michael.

Hi Michael,

I really don't know.
But i have deleted the database, made a new one, erased WB from the server and installed a fresh download from WB's site here. Added the pages, certain groups and added some articles on the home page.
Guess what... newest article is paced on top of the page! I have no clue what have might happened there.

I order of your last message, i did tested the 'news' page by adding several articles.
But everytime the article was placed at the bottom.
Time and date settings were correct and haven't changed. From the moment i wrote an article and after it was placed on the frontend, time and date were still the same as when i've wrote them.
Pretty strange i think. But there must have been changed cos of it's behaviour. And i haven't been in phpadmin or it's database.

Well, i can't tell there is a solution for this, but a clean install of DB and WB did the job for me.

Thank for taking your time Michael.
